Astrill is NOT a VPN. It is a proxy server.

It will let you get past Chinese firewalls just fine, and also allow you to share video from China without being watched themselves. It is NOT a VPN, so saying you need to "connect" to a VPN is useless in China. There are a number of VPN apps to get around the firewall. My favorite is Express VPN, it is a paid VPN that can be used on any device with ANY OS. There is a thread at this board for Chinese Routers that can help you to get VPN. I am not sure how to get you set up, as I am not in China and I don't have access to them. This is the best I could do. I hope it helps. If you can install any sort of app in your router you could download an app like Nord VPN and go through the guide I sent you last time to get it setup and running. But beware that if it does work they will know that you are getting around the blocks.

Thanks, I understand that. But my router's admin tools only allow me to configure the modem's DNS settings. I cannot configure my router at all. Is there anyway that I could get around this (ie get NordVPN installed)?

Edit: Maybe I could just buy a Chinese VPN that supports Chinese Routers? I've never used a VPN before, but my router's admin screen seemed pretty confusing, so maybe the right app will make this much simpler? Do you have the name of the router when it's turned on? That would help greatly, I think.
