Is Magic Link better than password?

I'm sure many people here have been considering getting Magic Link (by the founder of Reddit) and haven't fully decided if it's worth the effort or not. I did read some stuff about this, and I got curious about if this is really better than a normal password system. A common issue that I believe these systems address is password resets and lost passwords.

As I said, I'm curious about if this is truly better than just using a simple password. Do you think there are any issues with this? I'm sure the fact that it's tied to your email addresses can be problematic, but I'm looking at this as a feature, not a problem. I've thought about it for awhile, and I just couldn't make a determination on whether it's truly worth the trouble to go through with.

I have a lot of friends and family members with Reddit accounts, and one of the hardest things to get them to do is change their passwords. This would certainly be a good solution. I will be looking into it more. Thanks for the feedback!

The best advice I can give is try it out for yourself and see if it works for you. If you end up not liking it, then it doesn't really matter that much if someone hacked your account anyway. I tried it a while back and was very interested in it, but then it became my standard password since it is so convenient to use and I just don't have any better idea.

My concern about this service is that it is easy to get information about your contacts if you ever get into trouble. The site also has an awful interface where you have to click links to even start using the site (if that's the case). In other words, it looks like a scam to me.

I guess you can say it is like social media, but it uses a different way to connect people. I have tried Magic Link and liked it a lot. I'm sorry I don't know more about it. My guess is that it is like a personal email address system. You just have a box where you sign up, and after that you just set up all your contacts.
