I am the parent of a 7 year old that really seems to have an affinity for this game.

I feel guilty because every time I ask what he's doing when he comes home from school or after a friend come over we always end up on video games. I know it's normal but am constantly concerned I'm not exposing him to enough other things in life besides his computer. I just worry.

Is there something wrong with this game? Should I limit his access to it and if so what would be a good age? I can't find any info on the addiction rates or long-term effects with it. Even then, he insists in playing at all other time while I'm talking to him.

He may enjoy it as much as (or more than) the kids 10 and up. He's a smart young boy, and knows that you don't get to choose what your mom wants to talk about anymore ;) This said, I would suggest the following : limit video game time per day. Let your son play for 30 minutes, 4 times a day, -ask him if he'd be willing to play a sport or read a book instead of game ;-). and make sure he takes the TV along when he goes out. I'd encourage my son to try and do at least 2 things during his down time if you know there'll be nothing fun going on when he's in his room. You can go do something fun or you can play board games or something. It's important to keep your child's interest up by forcing him to do an activity he doesn't like, like reading a book. If you want to encourage him to play outside more often or just sit and play music, it might be fun to play board games when you're out somewhere. He could even have a set of cards that he has to draw from at random. That way you both get some fun, and you get to do something else.
