What DNS server should I use for LG Smart TV?

We have LG TV in our home which comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 8.

There is a need to enable DNS on this LG TV. So what DNS server should I use for this? I'm also confused whether the DNS server is an IP address, or a Hostname. Let me know. Also if there is any free DNS server out there, which will do my job? Edit: What I am trying to do is enabling DNS on LG TV. On LG TV I found option to set up some DNS Servers. To find DNS servers it is easy and can be done by setting any other computer to be a DNS server and browsing from the LG TV to that machine. If I do this, how does that work? Will it change my ISP to use that DNS server?

You probably mean "DNS cache poisoning". In the worst case it can make a DNS lookup fail, but you won't be poisoned by that. You will simply get a blank page, or a page which has nothing on it.

It's important to note that DNS poisoning can be done with any DNS server, and you're not tied to a specific one. In fact, by using a DNS server which does DNS poisoning, it will be easier for you to keep your DNS servers clean. If you can find a provider of DNS servers who doesn't do DNS poisoning, you're probably better off with those.

I am having the same problem as OP with my LG tv. I need to set the DNS address to point to another router. I am using the dd-wrt firmware on my TP-Link wndr3700v4 wireless router.

With that DNS server in place I am now able to see the TV IP address (192.168.2) when I type it into my browser. I am also able to access the web interface for my LG tv with that address. However when I go to the browser to view Netflix the screen freezes and the browser says the DNS server can't resolve Netflix.com

The issue here seems to be with the DNS server. I am not able to access the web interface of my LG tv.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Or does anyone know of a way to use the DNS server on my router to resolve the DNS address on the LG TV?
