Can I download ExpressVPN on LG Smart TV?

This is a simple question with a good answer.

Short answer: ExpressVPN has yet to launch a smartphone app for LG smart TVs. Why I know the answer? I was part of the development team that worked on this feature. Can you install NordVPN on LG TV?

Question:I have heard the LG Smart TV are not really easy to upgrade and that NordVPN is really hard to install on such a device.

How true are these claims? I want to change ISP on our Smart TV, but in my country, I will need a license with NordVPN, but I'm wondering whether it's possible to do it. Can someone help me with this? It would be much appreciated. TKS in advance.

Answer by David Nelsson on Jan 11, 2016:Hello Jrmy and thank you for the kind words about nordvpn. There was a recent post about getting Kodi installed on LG smart TVs by hacking into them, so I guess if you have access to an LG smart TV which needs your login details to be changed then perhaps you might be able to get NordVPN running there? It certainly has been possible to hook up a Windows 7 desktop to a TV but I believe you'd need to hack into the TV anyway to get it. To be honest though, I've never had a problem using any of the TV's I've installed NordVPN on! What I've done is just put the TV onto auto-install mode and allow it to do its thing. I haven't hacked into the TV in any way to add some third party apps (eg Kodi), just allowed the TV to do what it does, which is set itself up, etc.

So the short answer is yes you can install NordVPN on your LG Smart TV, but as always there is no such thing as an 'easy' way to set it up or anything remotely 'easy' about such tasks, just a bunch of steps. To be perfectly honest though and to save the reader time, if you really do want to hack into the TV to additional content, it may well be easier and faster to just install a smart box that does all the work for you, like a Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Firestick, etc., so there is really no need to go through the hassle of installing NordVPN on the TV yourself.

Sorry I couldnt be more help and good luck with your project of changing your ISP on your LG TV.
