What is the difference between ASUS TUF AX3000 and RT-AX3000?

I'm trying to decide between the RT-AX3000 and the ASUS TUF AX3000. The ASUS is slightly cheaper but the TUF looks like a better value for money. Any thoughts on what the difference between these is?

I'm also interested in these, in particular the ASUS TUF X99 series. Is there a good deal on these yet or do you think they're going to go up in price soon? I'm not really that bothered about having 16GB DDR4 as a workstation is what I'm using it for.

The biggest difference is actually size of the cooler - the ASUS is a bit bigger, so if you want to put a large pump, fans etc in there, the TUF may be a better option. You can't get away with not having a SSD any more either though, so if you want to do a lot of work on the machine, the TUF is the only option. It'll be cheaper too, at least until you have to replace it.

I'm assuming the TUF is just going to be a bigger cooler anyway though, so the motherboard should be pretty similar. There's actually quite a big difference in the motherboard. The ASUS one has one 24-pin molex connector to the motherboard and the TUF has two 22-pin connectors, which are a lot more common.

There is also quite a difference in the PSU - the TUF one is a higher quality unit, with more protection against spikes etc. It also has 2x4-pin Molex connectors to the motherboard, whereas the Asus one only has a single 4-pin Molex connector.

I would be tempted by the Asus TUF, but I'm not a fan of the black case. I like to see the internals and components of the machine, not something black that sits behind the machine.

Yes, it's a bit of a personal thing, but to me a black machine looks cheap and I'd want to keep my eye on what I was looking at for years to come. I know they do have a black chassis that comes with the ASRock Z97 Deluxe, which looks really nice.

What do the lights on my Asus router mean?

The lights that come with my Asus router flash constantly and I have no idea what that means. What should I be concerned about? Could it be a virus or maybe a faulty device? How could I fix it? If it continues to flash, it's not a virus. It's a normal and common status light for the router firmware. (see note at bottom of this question)
A message will flash on the lower left side of the router when the first of three stages of initialization has been completed (power-up, power-cycle, configuration). The flashing occurs when the firmware is being downloaded from our web site. If you see a message, it's just a confirmation that your firmware update was successful.

This message means the firmware has finished loading; there are no more options to select. If you don't see any updates available, you need to install your own firmware to have other functions available. (note - if you are not comfortable using an FTP server, or do not know how to, then you may be able to download the newest firmware and install it using a USB flash drive, with a utility such as NERO or WinMD from ). If the message flashes before you can get this far, please follow these instructions: Turn on the unit and allow it to boot completely. Locate the power cable coming out of the back of the unit. With the unit powered, unplug the power cable from the wall. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Unplug the unit from the wall. Turn on the unit and wait for the lights to flash continuously, indicating successful power-up. The unit will start downloading the next stage of the firmware update.

NOTE: Your router uses a unique identifier to access our network and download firmware. In order to prevent unauthorized use of your router by a hacker, your router will not attempt to update itself without proper identification from an authorized access device.

Is the AX3000 a router or modem?

There are two main parts to the AX3000: The modem and the router. The modem is a standalone device that receives, processes, and transmits data. The router, which is optional, does not have a traditional modem function. Instead, it connects to your home's network and communicates with other devices using IP.

The modem is powered by an AC wall outlet, and the router is plugged into your broadband router. Both devices can be found in the same box. However, you can easily buy each component separately, as well.

Here's the full rundown of the AX3000. AX3000 Modem. The modem is easy to set up and use. The unit itself is lightweight (weighs just 10 ounces), and its design is simple. It's meant to be used from a desk or a countertop and is designed to be placed close to the router.

The modem connects to the router using a single Ethernet cable. The connection is wireless and works with all of the devices that are compatible with wireless technology. This includes computers, smartphones, tablets, and more.

With a USB port, you can use the modem for power-only purposes. It doesn't have antenna, and it will only connect to one device at a time. This makes it useful for guests, if you want to keep the modem plugged in when your guests arrive.

AX3000 Router. The router is the other main part of the AX3000. You can use the router as a standalone device to access the internet. Or, you can also plug a device like a computer, smartphone, or tablet directly into the router, and it will share the connection with that device.

You can also set up the router to be a Wi-Fi hotspot. This means that other devices will be able to access the internet through the router instead of having to connect to it directly.

Using the AX3000 Router. As mentioned earlier, you can use the router on its own to connect to the internet. You can set it up to work as a Wi-Fi hotspot and share that connection with other devices.

This allows you to connect a laptop or tablet to the router and access the internet from anywhere. You can also use the router to share your internet connection to any other device.

How do I setup my Asus RT-AX3000?

The Asus RT-AX3000 is a dual band WiFi router with WAN and LAN connections. It has 3 USB 2.0 ports and a Gigabit LAN port. Setup is relatively easy, but I suggest you read through these instructions first and make sure that you have all your info together. You will not be able to proceed past step 5 of the 8 page setup wizard without all this information!

Here is a video guide for setting up the Asus RT-AX3000: Setup: Plug your Asus RT-AX3000 into a power supply with power. Leave the power off for 2-5 minutes, then turn on your Asus RT-AX3000.

Note: Make sure you remove the antenna or you risk damaging it. Step 3: Turn off your computer, router or modem. Wait 2-3 minutes, then power on your Asus RT-AX3000.

Step 4: In the main menu, enter the following command: upcd. Once the command starts executing, you will be prompted with the following message: Enter the default configuration for "ASUS Wireless-G ROUTER". Default Configuration: User Name: rtaxten. Password: (none set). WAN Server Address: Router Password: WAN IP Address: (enter 1.4 here, or use the 192.168.1 address that you can find on your router).

Server IP Address: (Enter a number from 1 to 254 for this address here. Note that it should between 224.1 and 255.255)

WAN DNS Name: Router DNS Name: DNS IP Address: (your internet IP address here). DNS Server Type: DNS Default: (Use DHCP if you don't know how to enter this option here. If your modem is set to obtain DHCP automatically on boot, then just leave this blank) Step 5: Enter your router's default settings here. Do not continue unless you have all your information in place and ready to enter. After you enter your settings, hit Save.

Step 6: Now you have two options here.
