Will Amazon really pay you to work from home?

What does it mean to work from home for Amazon?

Thanks for visiting! I just read this quote by Jeff Bezos from his Amazon webcast: We're going to do something that's never been done before. We're going to take a bunch of retail, the largest retailer in the world, and we're going to bring it under one roof and have it operate on a network. That's a very hard thing to do. But we're going to do it. And I don't know if we're going to be able to do it at the scale that we're talking about. But we're going to try.

Now I ask you: Is this really what Amazon does? According to his public statements, it appears that this is not what Amazon does. Rather, Amazon does this: Build an ecosystem of apps, services, data, and devices. Promote those apps, services, data, and devices. Build a marketplace of apps, services, data, and devices. Build a platform for apps, services, data, and devices. And so on and so on. Why would they say they're going to bring it under one roof and then try to build a network of apps, services, data, and devices? They've been doing this since the very beginning. And if you read a little further on, you find that he talks about a company called Jet.com, which is apparently the company he has in mind. But in the very next paragraph he says that Jet.com is just a bunch of people. So which is it? Is Jet.com just a bunch of people, or is it a company?

So, what is Jet. I'm glad you asked. The best way I can describe it is that it's like the Amazon app store meets Google Play meets Apple App Store. It's kind of like the place where all the apps live.

Will Amazon really pay you to work from home?

Amazon has been making headlines lately, from the Kindle and Kindle Fire to its online book club.

But do they really make their money selling books? Or are they just selling the idea of the future? Amazon may be the world's largest company, but it has also become the biggest company in books. With over a million titles in its Amazon Books ebook library, the company has a growing number of titles in its Kindle Bookstore. But despite its size, Amazon is still a very small player in the ebooks market.32 billion. And that's only for ebooks.

But that isn't the whole story. While Amazon might not be the biggest player in the market, it is definitely the most successful. According to data from the International Digital Publishing Forum, Amazon has captured 62 percent of ebook sales since 2024. In a recent article, Michael Gartenberg of Gartner claimed that Amazon is the only one left to run, with the other six companies in the ebook market now either out of business or selling less than 5 percent of the market.

But how much money do they make? Is this simply a case of someone taking advantage of a market opportunity? Or does Amazon have a monopoly on the ebook market? The first thing to note is that Amazon doesn't release any of its financial figures. However, there are a number of publicly available resources that can help us to determine just how much money Amazon has made from selling ebooks.2 billion for the year ended June 30, 2024. That's revenue for the year.5 billion. But what about the year just prior to that? I used the Interactive Advertising Bureau's figures from 2024 (PDF) and took the revenue from Amazon for the two months prior.6 billion

That's the combined revenue for the two months prior to the S-1 filing for the year ending June 30, 2024. It's not all that difficult to do.

Can I work for Amazon without experience?

I'm wondering if I can work for Amazon without experience.

I have an Associates account, and I've never received a job offer from them. I think I'm eligible for the Work-At-Amazon program because I have an account and that's required to participate.

I live in California, but most of my family lives in Florida. My dad has been an Amazon associate since 2024. Is it possible for me to work for Amazon with his help and advice? Is it easier to get a job at Amazon from another state than in California?

Amazon Work-At-Amazon is not a job, nor an option. Amazon is simply trying to make more money by hiring as many qualified people as possible and they are looking for associates, who can help them to do this. It's a company, not a job.

So unless you become their customer, you won't be able to make money. And if you are a customer, they don't care about you and what is best for you, they only care about how much money they can make, no matter who they hurt in the process.

So if you want to be their customer, first of all you need to contact them and explain your problem and what you would like to achieve. Then they will find you a job. Or you will find a job yourself.
