What port does Spotify use for firewall?

How do I unblock Spotify from my firewall?

What should I do to unblock Spotify from my computer, as well as from other machines on my home network?

I have just signed up for Spotify premium and am loving it. Since its a subscription based service, my wife is already complaining, "Why are you paying for it?" and she's right, I only want to be able to use it at home, and not over the internet. I have already setup port forwarding on our router for ports 80 and 443 so we can have access to Netflix etc. But how can I do this for Spotify? Thanks in advance for any help.

This will not work with a Spotify Premium subscription. I've got a premium subscription and it only works if I'm physically on the same LAN as the Spotify server. It is blocking the ports I needed, which are 80 and 443. If you're not trying to have this work outside your own home, I think you may be making a big mistake. They don't have an alternative streaming service, so you can't choose another streaming provider.

I have not yet had a chance to try Spotify on my own home network but from what I hear, it sounds very similar to netflix, in that it blocks all other computers on your network from accessing the servers and streaming the audio/video. That's because they offer a paid premium service to give you access to their entire catalogue, so they have a reason for doing it that way. They don't want you buying a 30/month netflix subscription (with or without kids) in order to get all the features that they offer with their 10-15/month Spotify premium. There is no comparison between netflix and Spotify when it comes to the range of services you can get with Spotify.

What if I was to pay for a VPN account that lets me access music and shows from anywhere? Does this block my home network? There are two ways to access content from anywhere with VPN services.

How to change proxy settings on Spotify?

Spotify is one of the most popular streaming platforms for music. It was launched in Sweden in 2025 and has since grown into a global market leader. Spotify is free to use, but if you want to download the full catalogue, it costs 9.99/month or 79.99/year. This is because it pays artists and labels for listening on their platform.

You can change the proxy settings of Spotify by going to Settings > General > Network > Connection Type and changing the settings. However, not all ISPs will support this feature. For example, if your ISP does not support changing the proxy settings on Spotify, you can use a VPN to change the proxy settings of Spotify.

Go to Settings > General > Network > Connection Type. Change the setting to Connection Type: VPN. Click 'Create VPN'. Enter the information asked by Spotify for creating the VPN. Select your country as the destination. Enter your country in the list. Select the VPN server closest to you. Enter the username and password for the VPN connection. Click 'Connect'. Go to Settings > Music > Change your proxy. The new proxy settings are active
