How do I set a proxy on Spotify?
Do you use Spotify on your computer or mobile devices?
If you do, how do you set your computer or mobile device to connect through a proxy server? Is it even possible? Here's what I know. If you use any browser to go to a website that requires a proxy to connect to, the browser will ask you if you want to set a proxy for that website. Once you agree, the browser will open a new window where you can add a proxy address.
And if you have a Spotify app on your mobile device, you can change the proxy settings on your mobile device itself. But how do you set a proxy on Spotify? Is it possible? It is. And here's how you do it.
You can also do this by changing the Spotify preferences using the Spotify menu at the top right of the screen. But changing preferences doesn't affect the streams for songs on your device (even if you're offline).
How to set a proxy on Spotify. Step 1: Open Spotify. Step 2: Tap the three dots at the top right corner of the screen. Step 3: Tap 'Settings'. Step 4: Tap 'Preferences'. Step 5: Tap 'Networking'. Once you set the proxy address, it will take effect immediately. It may take a couple of minutes to show up on the Spotify menu on your computer and mobile devices.
But once it shows up, it will affect all the streams of your songs and videos. How to remove a proxy from Spotify. Why does Spotify keep saying I'm using a proxy?
I'm behind a router/gateway and I've checked in the proxy list for other apps and the problem persists.
I don't understand this behaviour. I think Spotify should know about my router's network settings and if I was using a proxy it shouldn't show it, otherwise it shows that I'm using a proxy which isn't true.
Does anyone know what could be happening? And how to fix it? And no Spotify is not installed. Thanks! P. This is my proxy: Edit1: My internet is on wifi.e. Edit2: As you guys have mentioned this can happen sometimes. I tried this: The output doesn't look related, the app is just checking what kind of proxy I'm using. And it's true that it's not on a HTTP or HTTPS server (because it tries to reach Spotify) but it fails.
Edit3: On my Android I was able to get rid of this issue by doing this: The problem is solved for now, although the issue came back, but this time it appeared on iOS and it's still there. Maybe it won't persist but it's annoying and it keeps appearing (I don't want it anymore :/) Edit4: The issue has been cleared, it appeared again a couple of days later and hasn't came back. If anyone knows how it was fixed I'll be happy to know.
@AceofSpades - You are correct that this issue is resolved for you and others who suffer with it. It is fixed in Spotify for Windows/Mac, Spotify for iOS and Android.
From another thread: Quote: I was affected by this problem before, and even though the problem was fixed, and it stopped appearing. If the issue appears on your Windows 10 device, please open the Settings app and click on "Network". From here select "Network and Internet Options", then "Proxies". You should see two entries called "Google Inc."; both of these should be set to "Direct connection". You can also set these proxies to automatically configure, in case you forget them later. Click "Apply" and close the window.
What is proxy service in Spotify?
Proxy service refers to a service from which you are charged for listening to the music of other streaming services.
For example, it's possible to use Spotify premium when at work, but the subscription is paid through another payment method. In such cases, the monthly fee may be smaller.
The use of proxy services has increased in recent years. This was possible due to the introduction of a new billing method, based on mobile plans, which did not give rise to the use of proxy services, while now, the demand for the solution can be attributed to the rise in sales of mobile devices connected to the internet.
This is a service that will not allow you to save money. The benefits are only present in the fact that they do not have the right to track your browsing history. That is, you will not be required to reveal data about your surfing habits when using other services.
However, if you need to use multiple different services, the proxy service may be necessary. You will be able to avoid any problems related to the purchase of additional services, such as a monthly fee for some streaming services.
If you decide to use a proxy service, it's possible to make the payment online, on a prepaid card, via Facebook or even PayPal. It is important that you do not pay by mistake for the use of the service. You should pay attention when listening to the instructions given by the proxy service. The most important advice would be to watch for the link, which allows you to access the payment page for your personal information. You may also look up for a phone number of the proxy service on the internet.
When paying via Facebook, you should consider the safety of information, since the proxy service is also known as Facebook login. Many companies offer their services and it's recommended to take advantage of the opportunity to use them in case of having an account on Facebook. The advantage is the possibility to use them in real time.
The proxy service for Spotify should only charge a small fee. It's possible to use your existing Spotify premium with the same account for this service. That is, both the subscription and the proxy service are carried out in one application. They are connected and are available for users, which is an advantage.
