How do I allow Spotify through my firewall?

The following tutorial has been written for Windows systems and is provided in both PDF and HTML versions.

Read through the tutorial, and then run the .bat file at the end.

How do I allow Spotify to be downloaded on my firewall-protected computer? Open your web browser and access the Spotify application website. Click on Log in at the top right of the page.

Enter your Spotify username and password and then click Sign in. If the website prompts you to download the Spotify app, click Download app.

When prompted, select Windows from the drop-down list. Click Continue. Select Windows from the drop-down menu again.

When prompted, select Continue. Accept the terms and conditions and then click I accept. Click Log in. You will then be prompted to allow Spotify through your firewall. Click Yes.

A message will appear asking you if you want to allow Spotify through your firewall. After clicking Yes, the Spotify app will start downloading onto your system. It can take up to 30 minutes to download.

When the Spotify app is complete, click Finish. Click I'm a new user. Enter your Spotify username and password and click Sign in. When prompted, select Windows from the drop-down menu. Select Continue. Once the connection is established, Spotify will begin to download your library and playlists. You will receive an error message saying that Your library cannot be updated.

What does error code auth 74 mean on Spotify?

I am listening to some music on Spotify and occasionally I would come across an error code auth 74 on my Android device.

I searched through all the error codes and I am not able to find this code anywhere, anyone knows what this code might mean? If you do I would really appreciate it. Error code: auth 74 Description: Authentication failed For more information try this: If you are experiencing issues connecting to Spotify you can try logging in with your Google Account (instead of only using your Spotify account), or you can try signing out of Spotify and then connecting back. Does the code means that Spotify couldnt connect to the internet as in when you use the mobile browser to connect to its web based, or does it just mean its your smartphone's issue or something? My phone is having connection issue, hence the issue appears to be on my phone. If your looking into the question and have any further feedback, please shoot me a message via the reply option.

When I receive the message "auth 74" I can only listen to music in silence and then my screen is black, I tried to update the app but it did not work. After trying everything I restarted my mobile and again the message appeared and no music played. I tried reinstalling it but it didn't work. There are so many users having this issue but they say their is no fix for it. Can someone tell what the real issue might be please?

I have been having problems since last year and also found out that its on all android os versions such as mine (4.4 kitkat), HTC, LG, even on xiaomi android os as well as windows and chrome. I think it started happening after updating spotify from 2.8 to 2.10 and I was having connection issue. Then I was having this message "auth74". I tried resetting and clearing app data and cache for last few months but when I tried to reinstall spotify, it started doing the same message.

If there is something that we can do to fix this problem please just shoot me a message via the comment box. I'm really pissed because sometimes im having to close tabs, go to chrome settings and force close to reinstall spotify as I don't want to lose that connection.

I am getting this error right now and I cannot find any answer for it.

How do I fix error code 74 on Spotify?

My girlfriend just got an error code on her computer when she went to play any type of audio from Spotify.

She has never encountered this before and I haven't either, what is it? I don't know how to fix it because when she goes to Spotify in Windows it seems to be working properly.

To clarify which kind of error code 74 you are referring to, there are really two different ones: Spotify Connect or the associated Play Together feature of the app - that is, all streaming music apps including, for example, Google Play Music and Apple Music - are currently not allowed to stream more than one track at a time. The app itself, as an internal Spotify service that's part of the operating system (ie an internal application/service) - this can be seen with Spotify in the Activity Monitor app (Spotify is listed as a Spotify.app process).

The cause of the problem when either of these is the case is a change in the Spotify application (or the Spotify Connect client) that was published some days ago and requires a complete software restart of the app to fix. As the app runs in the background constantly anyway, it is very likely that after the restart the issue is already gone.

As a rule of thumb: in case of Spotify Connect issues you should make sure that no Spotify Connect services are available to the app. If all of them go through the Spotify app, the error code will show up.

If no other services work anymore, simply restart the Spotify app again. It usually works after that, too. But obviously, do this only after being aware of the consequences that may arise in case the error persists. In particular, a new error code can then appear.

Please note that the same is applicable to music streaming apps on iOS devices (the Play Together feature being a Spotify App on iOS): make sure to stop any services related to Spotify and reset your connection settings first. For those who are wondering, the Play Together feature (and Spotify Connect itself, by the way) is actually not a part of the Spotify music app but is more of a Spotify website widget.
