How do I permanently block a website on my phone?
I am on verizon and have one of the new galaxy s phones.
How do I keep a website from accessing my phone/tablet's browser and not allow it to load a website. Just like the settings one that allows me to block an app for the certain websites so this is more specific in my question, not trying to be obnoxious or anything. I don't want random website to load up on my phone.
Go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Internet Browser History > Block Unwanted Websites. Block Websites: Tap Add Site to block a website or list of sites, then use the Search text box to find your unwanted site, or tap a site in your bookmarks to add it right away. Or find sites you wish to avoid in the search results by tapping the Sites tab, and using the Sort By radio button to order search results by name, site address, time viewed, or other criteria. Once found, select the site, and tap Block to temporarily block the site until you clear the history.
Remove Sites: Use this option to go beyond the temporary block when you see an important website you don't want to block, such as a bank, social media page, or email account. Tap Remove Site at the top right of the screen. You can then specify whether to permanently block (or even remove) the site if you visit it. This isn't perfect if your mobile device supports a VPN or proxy.
Can you permanently block certain websites?
I have a block list containing a few domains on my DNS.
Can I just permanently block a domain from reaching my PC by changing its A records on the DNS, or will it not work like that? Does anyone know? If it doesn't work, how do I get around that? Re: ? You can temporarily block specific websites using the hosts file. To do so, edit /etc/hosts and set their IP to 127.0. Then, type in your browser '127.1
The hosts file is usually automatically updated by your network device. It is an alternative to DNSBLs.
To permanently block a site, change the name of the IP address to 127.1 in the hosts file.
For example, if you were to add '127.1 facebook.com' into the hosts file, then you will always type '127.com' in your browser.
I am sorry if this doesn't belong here, but it was too easy a question. I found the answer myself already. All you have to do is change the IP addresses of the domains with ipadress:port eg. 192.168.1:80 (or whatever you need). Now type the domain into a web browser, and it will go to the port number. You can get the IP address of a computer on a LAN by going to that IP, and then opening the command prompt.
Well, I guess that has to be the end of it. I hope people try to find a solution for this other than "use a dnsbl".
The thing about that (just like the above) is that I don't want to put those websites in a database for someone else to use. I want to know how to block these websites without having to ask questions here (and maybe asking my neighbours for help). Also, how could you make it easy and safe for everyone to block something that they didn't want to block?
How do I block websites on my Android phone without the app?
Use the Android system's browser to block websites.
Open the app that you use to open web pages (in your case, the stock browser).
Select More - > Search and type "Settings". Select Settings - > Apps - > Open Web Browser - > Select the app you use to open web pages. Select More - > Security - > Web history. Enter the websites you want blocked, then select Yes. The website will no longer show up in your web browser.
Select Home or Recents (depending on which browser you are using) - > All apps. Select Web Browser and click on the blue arrow icon (next to your current browser) - > Web Browser.
