I'm trying to break a family link. My son has been a ward since he was about 5, and I'd like to start the process of getting his records sealed. I have a friend who is a prosecutor in another state. His daughter is also in the LDS church, and they are not members. They are currently in the process of being sealed as a family unit. They have decided to become investigators and get married before doing any more sealing for their 3 children. (I don't know how many but I would guess there are at least 3.)

My son and his wife are going to a new temple. How do they go about getting this sealed as a family, so that when it's time for them to be sealed as a couple, they can have only 1 sealing ceremony, and they can then seal their 3 children as well? I talked to my friend's DA about it, and he said that according to my understanding of the sealing laws, if they are sealed as a family, they need to go to the temple a second time. And if they go back to the temple a second time, then they are sealing their children as well. So my friend said that they need to get these sealed as a family unit. But my son, who is 12, says that the LDS church is not supposed to marry his siblings. He says that his mother and her husband are supposed to do that.

I'm a little lost on how to proceed. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've done some research and it seems like I'm supposed to find the temple in which they were sealed as a family unit. Then they need to have their children sealed as well. Is that correct?

Re: How do I break a Family Link? If they are already married and still want to seal their 3 kids as well, they need to go through the sealings together. My husband and I got all our sealings at the same time and all 3 kids at the same time.

Yes, you will need to get them sealed in the same temple. You need to find the temple in which they were sealed as a family and then they need to seal their kids in the same temple.
