Psiphon also needs access to your data packets, that is your internet traffic. Psiphon uses your internet traffic and your personal data packets, which are encrypted before they travel between you and the website you are accessing. Psiphon does not have any control over how that traffic gets routed, what type of router it uses, or who it goes to. That is up to you.

For the proxy settings, the settings you provide in Psiphon are what is used to connect you to the internet. This means Psiphon needs to connect to the internet at some point and it must use your internet traffic in order to send the traffic over the network. Therefore, Psiphon uses whatever the proxy settings are in your web browser.

You can change your proxy settings in your web browser however you like, but if you choose to change it could break Psiphon, so be careful.
