Is 8.8 8.8 the fastest DNS?
In the current DNS performance survey from Dyn, they list the maximum throughput (8.8 megabits per second) as the fastest response time for domains (the first one listed in their results).
Is 8.8 the fastest DNS? On a quick test using speedtest.net, I got an average of 4.4 Mbit/s, which would put DNS at around 12.8 Mbit/s, more than 8x faster. So, my assumption is that this number is not accurate. Are there any other more reputable sources for DNS results?
The fastest DNS I've seen on a typical consumer network is 2.6 Mbps, and it's usually the worst performing DNS. I don't think it's fair to consider 8.8 Mbps to be the fastest, when it's still 5 times slower than what most consumer connections can handle.

My understanding is that the speedtest.net results are unreliable. They use the "high" level, which is the highest traffic possible. I'd guess that their speeds are closer to 8Mbps, but I don't know. But even if that is true, there's no way it's the fastest in the world.
I just did a little more research and I'm pretty sure that they use the fastest connection, which means that the results you're seeing are wrong.

There is one DNS that is the fastest in the world and it is called Google Cloud DNS. The reason it's fast is because it only uses the bare minimum amount of servers and DNS data to complete the lookups for your websites and it is a lot more efficient than using traditional DNS.
You can use the DNS servers with Google Cloud DNS, you just need to go into your server settings in the web control panel and add the DNS servers to the list. These DNS servers will then connect your website to Google Cloud DNS and use them instead of the traditional DNS.
These DNS servers are only added when your server is running on Google Cloud or Google Compute Engine. This is the fastest DNS and the most efficient so you can get the best performance when you are using Google Cloud. However, this is not the fastest DNS for PS5. I don't know why you would use Google Cloud DNS unless you are using Google Compute or Google Cloud. They are two different things. Google Compute is their cloud server and Google Cloud is their internet service.

Yes, 1.1 is the current fastest way to connect to external websites. It also uses the least amount of bandwidth, but it only works when the client knows about it. If you use a DNS client such as Unbound, Bind, or PowerDNS, it should work. There is a way to set DNS queries to always send to 1.1 in Windows and Linux clients that I can think of (possibly more), however.
By sending all its query requests to DNS resolvers such as OpenDNS and Google Public DNS, the Chrome web browser attempts to use them as fallback alternatives. If, for any reason, it fails to obtain an IP address from the authoritative servers, Chrome will then perform a DNS lookup against the local Internet services list (for example, "google.com" if that domain exists). The query is sent to a DNS resolver such as OpenDNS or Google Public DNS on the local computer network.
The way it works is if a DNS resolver you control, such as 1.1, returns an error. Then, even though your ISP's DNS server returns the correct IP for example.com, the Chrome Browser does not know it, and performs a resolver outside the ISP.

Net, and played my normal MMO game (Star Wars: The Old Republic) during those months when I was off-line. But over the past few months, I've decided to play through my normal online game on launch day while I also keep up with 1.1, which seems to me, a much better online gaming environment than the last beta 1.0 release, in some key ways.
