Is it possible to fix notifications from this app which are blocked from the first screen?

Currently, if I receive notifications while in my pocket and want to unlock my phone so I can check them, I have to unlock, touch home, then open my messages, then go to "unread" mode, then touch notifications, and only then do I get the notifications. If I didn't unlock at all, they are all still unread on the phone's lock screen.
