Who was James T. Kirk's son?

What happened to Kirk's son?

It was a difficult subject to broach with my friend, and I'd had all sorts of trouble finding the right time to bring it up.

"Have you ever heard of an organization called the Order of the Serpent?" he asked. "Sure, the Order is ancient order dedicated to the preservation of the soul." "The Order of the Serpent has existed for thousands of years, but their membership numbers in the millions. They were established before the creation of the World Grid, and their sole purpose is the prevention of reincarnation."

"What about reincarnation?". "There are many ways for a soul to return to the Grid, but none more popular than rebirth from a previous life." "How is this possible?". "It is quite simple. When the Grid first began, there were no memories of past lives to remind the souls of their existence. Souls, thus, became scattered across the grids and lost track of one another. However, over the years, as the memory of past lives was restored, the souls became increasingly aware of one another and soon became trapped by their memories. The only way out was to die."

"That's what happened to the son of Kirk, isn't it?". "Yes. The Order of the Serpent took responsibility for his death. They gave Kirk the choice of being reborn as his son, or to accept whatever punishment the Order offered him."

"Kirk chose to remain Kirk. What kind of punishment did they offer him?" "He's still here because of the power he holds as the only known soul that existed before the Grid was created." "Why hasn't he used it?". "Probably because he's found someone else to love. He must have been terribly lonely at first, but he's happy now, so he's not going anywhere."

"I'm sorry about what happened to your friend's son," I said sincerely. "Don't be. He asked for his death, and he got it. The Order of the Serpent is very good at what they do."

"If souls exist before the Grid, why didn't they know of each other until the Grid began?". "There's no real way to know if anyone lived before the Grid. All we know for sure is that once the Grid became established, everyone was lost in a sea of memories.

How many children does James T. Kirk have?

I've always wondered, particularly in the post-TMP-era novels where they're mostly just hanging around and doing a "job".

I have no idea how many kids they all had before TMP, but is there any mention of it in the literature? For instance, I don't remember reading anything about James' marriage life or his family, if he had any.

They definitely had a few children. Kirk, Spock, Bones, Mister Sulu and Scotty. But there's tons more that I'm forgetting right now.

There were some mentions of having kids in ENT, but those probably all came from scripts. I'm assuming the real universe doesn't come up often enough in the shows that most of it never made it onscreen.

As for Jim's relationships: Scotty and Uhura. And Spock and McCoy. Spock did tell Mr. Scott about their first night together. No mention of their second and third attempts, but as time went on Spock was more in love with McCoy than he let on, so that does imply more than a one-night stand.

In TOS, when McCoy tells Spock to keep an eye on McCoy's "mama" (ie Uhura) Spock makes some comment about how this isn't quite the thing he meant. I assume that was supposed to suggest that they were involved, which is why the writers didn't show them together much after that.

In TMP there was a brief reference that Spock and James were romantically involved at some point, though it's difficult to track that down. But it could have just been vague hints rather than a direct discussion. Again, if the characters themselves came up in the shows much, it would have been mentioned.

And that doesn't even count everything in the TOS/TNG era, when the two had multiple off-screen relationships and Kirk eventually got together with Deanna Troi (who was also not a virgin). In TOS, when McCoy tells Spock to keep an eye on McCoy's "mama" (ie Uhura) Spock makes some comment about how this isn't quite the thing he meant.

Who was James T. Kirk's son?

In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, James T.

Kirk and his father have a dramatic conversation on the planet Vulcan. The father says, "You will not die until you are ready to die." Kirk replies, "I'm not ready to die." The father responds, "Yes, you are."

What did the father mean by that? Kirk is a widower with no children and no grandchildren. He's never had any romantic interest in a woman, although he has met some women who would call him handsome. This particular woman is the mother of a son, Gary Mitchell. He says, "You will not die until you are ready to die." This is because of his son.

It seems a bit of an overstatement, doesn't it? In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Spock tells McCoy that he will have a son. However, they don't know if Spock will be Spock's biological father. In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Spock tells McCoy he is going to have a son. In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Spock is shown in the birthing chamber with his son. So, Kirk must have been the father of Gary Mitchell.

So what happened? Gary Mitchell was raised by Spock and Amanda Grayson on Vulcan. According to Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, he was born in April 2278.

So Spock never told McCoy that he would have a son? Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home contradicts itself. In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Spock claims that he will have a son, but McCoy says he doesn't remember Spock having a son. But in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Spock is shown in the birthing chamber with his son. So, there must be another reason that McCoy doesn't remember Spock having a son.

If Spock didn't tell McCoy that he would have a son, why does Gary have Kirk's eyes? In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Spock is the one who tells Kirk that he is dying. He also tells Kirk that he is in fact dying. After Kirk's dramatic speech to Gary, Spock says, "Your father is dead." So, it's clear that Spock's statement to Kirk is a lie.

Does Captain Kirk have a baby?

That one from 2026 was actually his daughter, but in Star Trek VI, Captain Kirk goes to a planet of genetically engineered humans.

It turned out later that he had fathered a daughter on this planet!

We're not sure who played the lead female role - but here's her baby: It's a bit of a stretch, given the timeline of the story but it's fun. In this episode "Q Who" we met the alien who posed as Q the caretaker for the Federation and its science labs. His role is played by the famous and awesome Nichelle Nichols who plays Lt Uhura on the U. Enterprise-D.

The baby is adorable and it makes you wonder what would have happened if Spock hadn't made his choices regarding the Vulcan child.
