Does VPN work on iPhone hotspot?
I want to setup my iPhone as a hotspot with my MacBook Pro.
How can I connect to my iphone when using a VPN? I just want to have the best connectivity, so I can make calls and use the internet with my laptop and also have no data charges if possible. Does it work with a private VPN? What is the best VPN solution for this purpose?
If you want to be able to make calls without incurring a call charge, you need to either use one of the calling plans offered by your carrier, or your own VoIP service provider such as Fring (www.fring.com) or Skype (www.skype.com)
Can I hotspot through VPN?
I have android phone and I'm trying to hotspot it. I've connected my phone to my home network with the usual Wi-Fi network manager and my computer is connected to a different router, one that I use for streaming content and hosting. How can I connect my phone to the computer through the second router?
When I go to connect it to the hotspot on my computer, it says "This device is already connected to a hotspot". How can I change that and connect it through the second router? I'm not sure what you mean by "hotspot on my computer", but if you're referring to the built in mobile hotspot capabilities of Windows 10, it uses IP address translation and NAT to allow two internal computers to connect to an external network. This means that only the first internal computer is visible from the outside as a hotspot, and not the other. I would assume that the same issue would be true for your Android phone, so that's why it can't connect.
The workaround is to connect your phone directly to the external network, and then use a router that can translate its IP address to a local internal IP address and NAT that address to the port number used by the hotspot functionality. I am not aware of a router that supports this natively, so you may need to build your own router (see this guide for example).
Is there any way to disable the hotspot from the phone while in hotspot mode and just have a regular network connection without being able to use the hotspot function of the phone? No. The phone needs a hotspot in order to have its hotspot function available to users.
If you want to make it work, you can probably set the phone to connect directly to your home router, as mentioned in the OP. If you don't need to use the phone as a hotspot, though, I would recommend disabling the hotspot altogether and using a wired connection instead.
For the benefit of others who are reading this thread, here's a link to the page I referred to in my original post. The hotspot function of Android phones is a fairly recent addition. While some people may be surprised to hear that, when it first came out, there was no way to connect multiple devices (Android or otherwise) to a single hotspot.
