What does white nail polish mean to guys?

What does telling a girl to get white nails mean?

I told my mom the other day that I was going to buy myself a new nail polish and she asked me what it meant.

I looked it up online, and I found that it means the colour of your nails has to be white or clear. I was surprised because my nails are usually black, so I thought it was weird. It doesn't make sense to me because I've never seen any other colour than black before. Does anyone know what this means?

Doesn't matter if your nails are black, it can be anything. White means no nail polish at all. Silver is really dark silver. Gold is the most white, as are pink and red. Some nail polishes have a white base that's only like 3 mm deep. Most of my nails are like that and I don't see a problem with it. My nails are light brown.

The one thing about nail polish that I hate is how some women use it as a makeup tool, with the nail polish on top of their lipstick. I don't understand that! I'm not saying that it's bad to use it in conjunction with lipstick, but I'm just trying to understand why you'd put it on top of it when you can just use the lip color and not both! I got a little tired of telling women that nail polish does not mean you are not wearing makeup. I just say to them that the nail polish is there to protect the nail and nothing else.

Thanks for the replies. I think I should go out and buy some different colours and see if I can find one that matches my skin tone. I can't see how a colour that covers all of my nails could possibly mean that I'm not wearing any makeup.

Why are white toenails a red flag?

Some white toenails are simply skin problems (for example, a fungus), but others may mean that you're getting less vitamin D or calcium (the toenail being yellow). Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium, and a low vitamin D level is a sign that your body may not be getting enough of this vital nutrient. Your doctor can check whether you have a vitamin D deficiency.

And don't brush it off! White toenails in the summer, which will often be very dark when you step on them, often mean that you need to get your vitamin D and calcium levels tested. How long will it take for my nail to grow back? Sometimes the nail grows back too quickly. You can cut the nail down to the bone with a scalpel and apply a dressing, which will help prevent infection. You can also cover the area with moleskin and wrap it in cling film until it re-fuses (dries). Alternatively, you can simply wait for the nail to regrow by using an over the counter nail growth stimulator or by applying a silicone-based nail treatment. However, it's important to remember that if you keep cutting your nails, it will just make it harder for your nail to grow back properly.

So what now? Your nails won't look nice all the time, so it's better to treat your nails as an ongoing maintenance job. Have regular manicures, trim your cuticles as soon as they become dry, clean your tongue between your teeth with an alcohol wipe or use a toothpaste with anti-bacterial and anti-plaque ingredients, and, of course, make sure you get enough vitamin D and calcium.

Why is nail color a symbol of femininity?

How many women are actually color-obsessed?

It's no secret that men love to color our nails, and we love it when we're asked about it! The first question to ask when it comes to nail polish is, Why are you doing it? This is the trickiest part of any nail polish journey, because people don't have to answer the question of why they want to do something. Most people who wear nail polish have a good reason for doing so, but it's not always easy to articulate it. A quick Google search can bring up all sorts of reasons to wear nail polish, from looking more feminine to adding variety to the manicure. Most often, women wear nail polish to feel more confident, to add polish to a natural look, or to match a different outfit. But there are other reasons that men wear nail polish as well. They may be trying to create an impression, or they might just be feeling girly for whatever reason. Regardless of your reason, it's best to keep it simple when talking about nail polish!

Why does nail polish symbolize femininity? People sometimes make this mistake of saying that nail polish is a symbol of femininity, but that isn't the case. Rather, nail polish is a symbol of personal empowerment. As a self-identified feminist myself, I've never been able to understand how this is possible. But it's important to think about this point in relation to why wear nail polish. After all, there are countless reasons why people wear nail polishto create an impression, for fun, or for whatever reason. However, the fact that nail polish is seen as a symbol of femininity tells us a lot about why women wear nail polish.

Nail polish is a symbol of femininity, but not because women wear it to symbolize their femininity. Rather, nail polish has come to represent femininity for two reasons: 1) women get manicures because they want to look pretty, and 2) nail polish is an extension of the makeup that women wear on a daily basis. While nail polish may look feminine, it's actually the makeup that has become feminine.

What is the trend with white toenails?

In the spring they always come out white and then in summer it gets that weird mottled look (which, to be fair, could because they're going through color change). Have I just been lucky or is this a seasonal trend, or whatever?

There was a study once (I think I read it on TO) that found many women don't even notice their toenails change until they lose all their color over winter. My toenails have always looked very 'alive' and never faded and I can tell you for sure they haven't changed color in the winter. As an adult I've never noticed white toenails after the winter either - maybe my nails were naturally white like the toenails of some other blonde bimbos?

There is a trend with white nails - the whitest one will fade to a sort of silver hue over the year. It's probably not very popular among men with toenails but women often love it.

We just had some fun with color changing toenails. When you apply nail polish, the color doesn't stay. Well, I mean when you apply polish at a retail salon, it stays pretty damn well, but if you are trying to do it at home, well the nail polish is a living organism and does whatever it wants - it goes through color changes, forms bacteria, etc. If your polishes are sitting and taking up oxygen the right way, they won't form bacteria as fast, but not the way it's supposed to be. So for our photo shoot today, I used gel nail polish on all five toes to keep them from changing color before a model applied the base. The base had more than enough time to cure and form bacteria and we then proceeded to take photos using flash lights so that the models would appear more natural. So they looked good, except that they weren't as white as everyone thought they should be, but they also still had enough color left on to give the effect were going for. Not sure how realistic the white one is, but this will make you laugh anyway:
