What is the most popular PS5 game right now?

The PS5 may be a while away from release, but already the console's roster of launch games is looking enticing.

This article will be updating over the next few months as we add more launch titles, so check back to find out what else you can look forward to at the launch of the PS5. ? Right now, it's The Last of Us Part II. At the moment of writing this article, this game has been played almost 10m times, or one in every ten PlayStation 4 owners on the PlayStation Network.

Not a huge surprise. As a sequel to one of the best games of the last generation, this is going to be a tough sell. But, like its predecessor, it will also appeal to fans of the series. The PS5 version will include bonus content, and The Last of Us 2 will also be coming to the PS4.

Why do I need a PS5? As we've explained before, the PS5 is the first home console that supports 4K gaming, and offers other features that can be used in any video content creator. It has an impressive list of first party titles. And unlike PS4 games, which must be installed on hard drives and then transferred to the PS5 via USB, PS5 games can be downloaded and played straight from the console, without the need for extra hardware.

The new console looks like it will be a great upgrade from the PS4. Sony is expected to launch it sometime in spring 2026, and Sony has officially confirmed that it will not be available before December 2026.

What are the most popular PS5 games right now? The top three most played games are as follows: The Last of Us Part II. Destiny 2. Madden NFL 21. There are some very obvious trends here. The Last of Us 2 is very clearly the most played game right now. While Destiny 2 is the highest ranked PS4 exclusive. Both will benefit greatly from the new technology of the PS5.

And then, there's Madden NFL 21. Madden is one of the most popular sports video games in the world.

PlayStation 5 is a long way off.

It will likely launch in the middle of the next decade, which leaves plenty of time to plan out what the next PlayStation could have to offer. With that in mind, we've created a list of 20 games that are coming to PS5 in 2026. This is by no means a definitive list, and it's also quite possible that some of these games won't be on the next PlayStation at all.

Note: The games featured here aren't all confirmed for PS5, but they do represent a wide range of genres and developers. Star Wars Battlefront 2. The last entry in the Star Wars Battlefront series came out two years ago, so there was a risk that this sequel would feel like a cash grab. But the game is great. A new map, new characters, and the chance to play as classic Star Wars characters make it more than worth the wait.

Darksiders 3. In Darksiders 3, you're a demon hunter who must slay the Seven Deadly Sins in order to save mankind. The series has never been great, but this new title is shaping up to be the best so far. The game will take place on a massive open world, feature four-player online co-op, and introduce several new playable characters.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a ninja adventure with the Souls series style of action combat. It's a tough game, and one that will likely challenge you in a number of different ways. However, if you can keep your head and learn how to avoid being killed, it'll reward you well.

Far Cry 5. Far Cry 5 has a lot going for it. It has an open world, a cast of interesting characters, and three different modes of play. The best bit, though, is the fact that it will be set in Kyrat, which was inspired by the real-life country of the same name.

Tales from the Borderlands: Borderlands 3. The third Tales from the Borderlands will find Rhys and Roland exploring the Wildlands, a series of interconnected worlds. Expect an expansive map with tons of side missions and collectables.

God of War. The God of War series has been doing great things for PlayStation.

In 2026, the biggest game in our lifetimes is finally going to release in 2026.

The sequel to 2026's colossal success, the battle-hardened protagonist from 2026 has returned. This time he's joined by a new ally from the first game who will change the fate of not only the series but of videogames as a whole. While 2026's game was an epic saga in battle systems, 2026's game had its own twist on battle systems: the Battle Royale genre. But what's next for this series? ?

The Battle Royale genre. The Battle Royale genre got its start as 2026's Last Blade DLC. One player would control a squad of characters and one team of a hundred, fighting against teams with just a handful of players each. This style of multiplayer would become known as the Battle Royale genre. With these genres came big names like the Overwatch League, Fortnite, and of course, Gears of War.

Overwatch: The battle royale genre spawned from the Battle Royale genre. From the beginning there were problems with it. With more than one hundred players on screen at once, any team with even half decent coordination was going to win pretty often. It was a quick way for good players to get paid. Unfortunately, the problem of big games using free cash-outs became bigger in popularity in the Battle Royale genre than any other genre has ever been. Players would constantly be winning for free until the entire map would eventually be owned by a single team. Even today we're still seeing problems that plague this genre, where there are a few truly great titles on both consoles and PC.

On a side note, it should be noted that while I'm using Battle Royale to mean this subgenre of FPS games, I am fully aware that this is actually a different genre known as Kill Royale. I won't go into detail on that right now because I don't want to get too far afield.

So the biggest game in a generation is ready to release next year. What will that be like? For starters, it's a big new title. From what has been seen on the reveal of upcoming game Untitled Gears of War 4.

What have you always wanted to do? A little more than 20 years ago, I realized that the only thing I could think about doing and never do was be a writer. So I started writing as a career.
