In my opinion, Whatsapp should have been free forever. I think it would attract a larger audience than it does today. You don't want to make the most popular app in the world and leave a hole in its user base.

You do realize that this doesn't mean the app is open source. If they did, we would see the source here on our blog. They have chosen to remain closed source and give in to extortion that is rampant on the internet today.

Who Is The Target Audience? Well, if you were curious before, just ask any beta tester. They won't mind giving a little more info. Beta testers are not a normal customer, they are just looking for a bit of fun. They are just people who like using the app, or want to use it in the future when the full release happens. Beta testers are usually younger than normal customers, and most of them will probably be under 18 years old. This is the age group that Whatsapp is trying to cater to. There are quite a few ways to keep them satisfied, whether it's the free beta, or just the free version of the app.
