What is my current location address on Google Maps?

Why isn't Google Maps showing my current location?

How can I add my current location to Google Maps? There are a number of reasons why you might not be able to see your current location on Google Maps. The first thing you should check is that you're connected to the internet and that your device has an active data connection. If you're on a Wi-Fi network, make sure that your Wi-Fi router is switched on. If you have a mobile phone or tablet, make sure it's on and connected to a data network.

If you're on a Wi-Fi network, there's a good chance that you may have already set up your device to automatically update your location. You can find out how to do this here.

If you're on a data network, the chances are that your device is connected to Google Location Services. You can find out how to turn off Location Services here.

If neither of these things are true, you'll need to switch on Location Services and connect your device to a data network to see your current location. There are three possible reasons why your current location isn't visible on Google Maps: Your device is on Wi-Fi and you've turned off Location Services. Your device is on Wi-Fi and Location Services is enabled but you're not connected to a network. Your device is on data and Location Services is off. If you're on a Wi-Fi network, turning off Location Services will stop the device from using your location. If you're on a data network, turning off Location Services will prevent your device from connecting to Google Location Services. Even if you are connected to a data network and Location Services is switched on, your current location may not be visible on Google Maps because you're not on a data network. In this case, there are two possible reasons why this is the case: You're using a mobile phone or tablet and your data plan isn't working. Your data plan only includes access to Wi-Fi networks and your device isn't connected to a Wi-Fi network. To find out which of these two things is the problem, try to open up Maps by tapping the top left corner. If you get an error message saying 'Google Location Services cannot be used,' then this is probably the problem.

I know I can just type in my location and Google will give me the directions.

But I was wondering if there was a site out there that is better than Google, but free.

"The problem with political correctness is that it's invidious and insulting. It asks that people be treated as if they were mentally defective or morally deficient. Political correctness tells us that all cultures are equal, and that the only legitimate reasons for discriminating against another person are 'racism' and 'sexism.' " -Thomas Sowell

How do I get directions to a location?

The Google Maps mobile application provides both a static map display and a dynamic map with directions.

To see the location on a static map click, tap and drag the Map. You can even enter an address or search for a location. Your current view (street) shows blue pins on the map, which are locations you have previously visited. The new orange pins show locations that you haven't visited. They have been added to your route by way of their proximity to your current location or by other users going there via Google Maps.

You can add routes to Google Maps with the help of the dynamic map. You can start your route from your current location or from a custom point, or set it to navigate the user automatically from a specific address or city. Once you've entered a route the 'My Route' section on the left shows which way you are heading and where the closest intersection is. It also shows the route's estimated time of arrival (ETA).

How do I find routes to an address? Tap Search for Driving Directions from your current location or select Get Driving Directions from a specific address in the Android app or web version of Google Maps. This option will launch the Google Maps web browser (with JavaScript enabled) and bring you to the search results.

Once you've set the destination, you'll be shown directions when you search your current location or use this web browser. When you reach the route, you'll be provided with an estimate of how long it will take, as well as your route description and estimated time of arrival (ETA).

You may be asked to confirm your travel route choice before the estimated time of arrival. This is because multiple routes exist between a certain origin and destination. For example, a city can have several possible driving routes, each with a different number of roads/streets leading to it. In this case, the more streets you choose to travel, the longer the estimated time of arrival. However, it is unlikely you will have to make a decision this late in the road trip!

To find out how far you are from the recommended route, follow the onscreen arrow (arrows appear when you turn a corner or leave a street). If you wish, you may choose the fastest route, instead of the recommended.
