How do I stop my Android phone from blocking calls?
I know how to use the 'Call Filter' feature to block calls from certain numbers.
But I want to be able to block a specific person. Is there any way to do this in Android?
I was looking for a similar answer and found one here. The trick is that you can use "CallFilter" to put a limit on the number of calls allowed from a particular number, but not a particular person. So if you wanted to limit phone calls from your boss to your phone to 3 a day, that's easy - just set a limit of 3 on the CallFilter.
The tricky part is if you want to limit calls to yourself to 5 per day, but not your boss. The answer to this question shows how to do this. It involves using a secondary call filter which only limits calls from the boss to you but not your boss. Note that the answer uses a custom app so you'll need to create a new app and put the logic inside it, rather than use an existing one like Google's call filtering.
So now you have an app that filters calls from your boss, but not you. You can simply disable that call filter. When the boss calls, the call will get through. When you call the boss, he'll get an error message telling him that you're using another call filter.
Why is my phone automatically rejecting calls Samsung?
Samsung phones run on Android, which runs on the Linux kernel, and Linux makes certain calls to certain components of the operating system impossible: calls to the CORESVC macro when used by the kernel.
calls to the rtsigsignal() function (which is used by the kernel) when used by a driver. Calls to /proc/sys/kernel/trace or /proc/sys/kernel/corepattern when used by the kernel. To prevent these calls from being made, a developer sets a flag in the kernel known as the CONFIGNOSYSFS property. Some drivers, such as bluetooth drivers, make use of these drivers which are configured by default to avoid these calls from being made: The CONFIGNOSYSFS property can be set via the build options for the kernel. If you are using cross-compilation tools to build the kernel for your particular device, it might be easier to just use the --no-sysfs command-line switch to prevent those calls from being made.
Samsung phone owners are faced with a decision: leave the kernel alone and let the calls to the functions discussed above continue making their way to your device, or block the calls. If you have set the value of CONFIGNOSYSFS to either on or true, then your phone will be missing out on these critical functions that keep the system running smoothly. So what should you do?
You can find out if your current build options are preventing the functions above from being blocked or not by looking at the kernel config file. Open up the device/build directory of your phone (for example, /system/build.prop/device/). You can access this directory either through an adb shell into your phone, or by connecting your phone to a PC and using a file manager to open it. Once inside, you will find the kernel config file.
If the .config file is empty, then there is no call to CONFIGNOSYSFS.
Otherwise, this means that calls to functions discussed above were actually built into the kernel. If you want to revert back to how it was before, you need to follow the steps below: Connect your phone to your PC via USB. Open up a shell prompt on your PC.
Why are calls being blocked on my Samsung phone?
Hey everyone.
I am not too technical and know nothing about android devices. I have a Samsung galaxy S4 and the phone calls are being blocked on it. What can I do about this? I was getting calls before the problem occurred but now they are all being blocked. It's been happening for a few days. I called Sprint customer service and they are being told that they are not responsible for calls being blocked. How can I get my calls back?
When someone calls your phone it sends a signal to the network. The network will then forward that signal to the cell tower closest to the person calling you. If your cell phone is blocked, no signal will get sent and the call will fail.
The best solution is to try to find a location close to your house or place of business where you can take the phone. Find a location that has cell phone reception or just ask a friend to come by and use their phone to call you.
You may be experiencing something similar to a 3G to 4G handover. When you move from 3G to 4G a cellular device has to transfer data from one cell to another, sometimes dropping the connection. When this happens with some devices they can appear to be dropped or the connection to the caller will be lost. In my experience with Sprint (and AT&T) it's typically an issue with the data connection and not the voice call, however others disagree and I'm not in the know enough to say one way or the other.
