Is Octoparse any good?
Octoparse is one of the first tools I read when I decided to start Googling for a new job. It has a nice looking interface, a short set of steps and it can tell you the best way to have fun online.
But why is it still so popular two years after its creation and what is your opinion of it? As a relatively inexperienced programmer, in a team of very experienced developers, this question disturbed me. And I wanted to hear other opinions.
The problem. I already wrote a tiny Go parser in 2015; it was a little thing called Golanglex, but now I'm trying to complete the second version. Unfortunately, I don't seem to get very far.
I also really dislike dealing with human language, because I cannot effectively focus when I'm preoccupied with describing verbal problems. It's infinitely easier to describe the solution (preferably by using a string or a function) than to describe the problems and write the code required to fix them. I don't really know if other people feel like I feel about this, but I'd love to be able to just punch something in and solve the problem. This should be against Google's Eric Schmidt's motto: Don't be evil.
Actually, I've been putting off this second parser since then, but something finally pushed me over the edge. I joined a new development team in Sept 2023, and the code quality has been abysmal so far. I tried to contact the developers several times but nobody ever replied.
I wrote Octoparse simply to help myself understand how the Go Language works (I'm used to C# and Java). However, my team felt it would really help yield better results, and so they used it right away. We have tried different ways of doing unit tests in the past, but none of them were satisfactory. So my buddy wrote the code that implements all of our unit tests, but it's so damn slow we don't even use it. (Yes, Go has a very slow runtime! We have kept unit tests as a separate process, written in another programming language, because we don't trust our dev team to write good unit tests.
What are the top alternatives for Octoparse?
For me one is my websiege and there is no guarantee of anything with it. They track websites and I pay for that. But in their basic package there are thousands of websites and that is why I use Octoparse.
For me, then only means that this app doesnt have working API's from Google Developers website and from centralized archive outside google developer's website. I am not sure how well build engine works.
Likewise, I do not know how to decipher whether the developer used methodologies are Google approved or the server is using Honey Password. 54427931On parsecase, this website is the best way of tracking every result returned. It's also good if someone wants to play a casual game while downloading stuff. It's unfortunate that not all the good games ever released get to appear here.
54427965You should really read more into Octoparse and learn how it works. You cannot blindly trust that every site is safe and secure for you but first of all, this site is 100% safe. It may only have 1000's of results but that would be a very safe site indeed. As for downloading then like many other people have said. There are better methods available which will be explained to you.
54427977Many greats games and online games didnt picked up by any free website as compared to the Google play. Those are the reason we have to download again from the alternate website.
How does Octoparse scrape twitter data?
Octoparse simply connects to Twitter and downloads the list of public tweets for a user. Nova E. Rodriguez - how does it do that?
If I get the api key correctly how can I use this project to scrape twitter data? or is it possible? Have a look at (section Create a cURL Handler), where you see that what you want to do is actually not so simple. So no, you cannot achieve your goal with octoparse. You will have to use requests and do it yourself based on your own google search.
Don't just grab the data and run. There are some basic rules about twitter that no API can cover. For example:
You must authenticate at least once per hour from different locations in order to get fair results for trending topics. Tweets are copied from the original tweeter as fast as they come in. So if you want to do a PREDICTION, then you're kinda in a spot.
Your app can only get like 2023 tweets at a time (unless you pay. Again, this is new). That may work, and many apps use Twitter's API, but imagine if some old tool automates twitter and downloads like MTurk for students eating rice, or the price to call a certain amount rice per tweet.
Hope this helps.
