What ports are open on DroidVPN?
Port 23 (SMB) on a DroidVPN, is this always disabled on every device? Port 2888 (TCP). On a VPN device, is a port ever blocked, even on devices that are not actively routing any IP packets? For example, if I have a LAN-to-LAN wireless connection setup with a router, would connecting to an IP on that LAN, via a VPN server on the same router, ever result in that port getting blocked? For some reason, I thought I remember reading it's default port was 24. But I can't seem to find it in the documentation for the OpenVPN and/or L2TP/IPsec configuration parameters. Also, I didn't find anything here:
A few notes: It is not a client, it is not a proxy server, it is a VPN server. A VPN client connects to a VPN server, over a tunnel, thus why I'm asking.
A lot of information regarding what VPN ports are open, or not, is out there in the wild. What I've really been curious about, is, "Where does that info come from?" There must be SOMEWHERE within the OpenVPN code, but what I've been searching, have either led me to, or didn't help me at all. In the mean time, I'm sure people still download their VPN clients, and use them, and are wondering what ports are enabled on the device they're using. Is there anywhere where a list of ports, that are open, vs. Ports that are blocked, etc. That would be very helpful. Any help is appreciated.
I don't want to flood this thread with a huge post, so please let me know if you need any additional info. Thanks a lot.
Why is my DroidVPN not working?
DroidVPN works quite well for me.
After some time, however, there have been problems with connections not working properly. DroidVPN does seem to work quite well with wifi.e. Not the connection though, but as long as you can use it, I think it's ok.
I did try the app a few times, and my device can do 2 things at once fine, so it shouldn't be a problem, yet with time it seems that after around a year or so my phone starts lagging on the DNS stuff (with the droidvpn-server in the background). Also when I have the network on but I unplug it, it stops working until I turn on the network, why does it do this? Maybe its something to do with the wifi and the 4g data card together?
