How do I connect to Smartproxy?
The easiest way is to select one of the server nodes and add them as a node in your configuration. After that you can just choose that server as proxy when connecting to web applications, for example with Google Chrome.
But the configuration is also possible via the configuration file. You have to make sure that the following values are set as appropriate: config.serverPort=5005; // Smartproxy configuration server (the default server) config.url= config.proxyPort=80 // Smartproxy proxy configuration port (the default proxy port) config.userName=proxy; // Smartproxy credentials config.password=mysecretpassword
As well as the Smartproxy server node. By default Smartproxy is configured to listen on port 5005. You might want to change this port (and other config variables) by adding them to the server node:
Do I need to add any other nodes?
What is a Smartproxy?
A Smartproxy is a web proxy / gateway that protects your internet connection by providing you with extra security measures in order to block or throttle your traffic. The main features are: Encryption - Encrypts your data before being sent. Compression - You could increase your download speed. Time Limiting - Sets a time limitation for your use of the internet, allowing you to set the maximum amount of time allowed. For example, you can restrict surfing to 1 hour between midday and 3pm. You can also block specific areas of the internet where you want your Internet to be restricted. You can be completely flexible as to when you use it and even choose to turn the system off temporarily during times of low Internet usage.
How does a Smartproxy protect my network? The Smartproxy network works by monitoring and responding to all incoming and outgoing traffic on your network as it arrives and leaves. This includes traffic to and from your home including connections made over telephone lines (VOIP) or other networks such as your mobile phone. It will also monitor traffic away from home made over the Internet.
If a client connects to your home network but fails to complete the requested service before the allotted time period then the device will place itself between your PC and the Internet and cut your data flow in order to protect your Internet traffic. This function is referred to as Time Limiting. If you are using a modem with a built in firewall, the Smartproxy automatically configures itself into this position of protection. You may have to manually configure your modem to perform this protection and ensure that the data limit and time schedule in our system are set to suit your requirements. Any devices that would connect to your Internet connection would experience the same protection as if they were connected directly to your Smartproxy, so the Smartproxy will protect any connected devices such as: PCs, phones, modems, games consoles, etc.
What is a Smart Proxy? The Smartproxy is a dedicated web proxy / gateway that protects your Internet connection by providing you with extra security measures in order to block or throttle your traffic. In recent years the Internet has been an integral part of people's lives. It has changed not only how we socialise and stay connected, but has revolutionised the way businesses conduct their business and how they can interact with consumers.
