How do I find my proxy hostname?

My internet connection is provided by a residential phone line, so my IP is dynamic, and I know it changes often.

However, it usually shows something like "203.167.XXX" in a web browser. I don't see anything about my proxy hostname in there (I would if I used one). How can I find out what the hostname of my proxy is?
I know it's possible to get the information from my router's configuration page (via http://) but it just says "System Information". I'm using a Netgear router with DD-WRT firmware.

In order to use -s or --hostname and have the program try to get the host name of the connection, the program must know what to put into hostname. That's why you need to read the manual page for the program you are using. Most programs read the environment variables on startup (which is what -s does). I would assume the hostname of the connection is set in one of those environment variables.
