How do I find my browser extension?

How do I remove browser extensions?

First, you should realize that if you ever do try to remove a browser extension that was installed via the Add-ons panel or through chrome://extensions, it's likely that you're only going to end up with a bunch of errors as chrome does not really want you removing extensions from your browser.

If you actually manage to get rid of an extension without a crash or warning popup this may just work once or twice, but you'll be more likely to get stuck with a bunch of warning messages on all future visits to the browser that won't go away. (This is what happened to me.) So just in case you somehow manage to remove a browser extension using Add-ons, here's a simple trick to figure out if your browser extension is working or not and how to get rid of it if you don't want it anymore:

1) Look for that annoying warning that appears after you click the little green dot that says Continue without it. You can get rid of that extension by right clicking on it and clicking on Remove from Chrome.

2) Open a new tab in Chrome and type chrome://extensions (without the quotes) into your address bar and hit enter. Here you should see a list of extensions for your browser. The one that has a warning icon next to it should no longer exist and are all the extension names that were added to the Chrome browser by the extension developer.

3) On each of those extensions, you can open the about:plugins link and read if it has false positive listed. This means that it's not harmful for your browser, but just shows annoying warning, just like our example.

4) If you're lucky you'll find out which extension is causing the false warning and you can then click the button to tell Chrome it's ok to remove this extension. If you've managed to get rid of the extension that was causing the warning, you'll also want to make sure that the warning stays gone. This should actually be a bit more complicated, but it can be done. Go to the about:addons page again and search for that extension that you just removed.
