What is the difference between Gmail and IMAP?
I always wondered, what exactly the difference between Gmail and other email clients like MS Outlook.
Does Gmail use IMAP or POP3 protocol? How does it differ from other email clients? I understand that email protocols are the "uniform" method for sending and receiving emails from your server. However I am specifically asking for a way to compare two.
I would like to use MS Outlook (for Windows) or Thunderbird (for Linux), but I do not want to learn both, and if there is a similar program, with similar features, then I could try it out. Does anyone know what the differences are between Gmail and a regular email client? I tried searching for this question, but everyone says they are similar, and that is the definition of "similar." A different way to phrase your question: you want to use Gmail's functionality, but would also like an alternative for an alternative to Gmail's functionality. As a result, you've basically asked what the capabilities of Gmail are. So my answer is that you can access Gmail through Google Apps. If you're not using Gmail with Google Apps, then your question doesn't make any sense. For that matter, since you seem to be trying to access a server outside of the domain name, you're really talking about whether to go with a Webmail or a "fat client" IMAP or POP email client. If you mean to ask "Is Gmail better than Webmail", the answer is yes, of course it is. The capabilities of GMail are so much better than any other Webmail client that you shouldn't use anything else. This is a feature, not a bug.

The most common email client used today is called Outlook Express. It's Microsoft's implementation of the standard EAS or ETRS protocols, similar to GSM, PAS or WAIS. It is a client-only version of EAS, so does not have any support for groupware.
What is a personal IMAP Gmail?
The IMAP protocol is used for reading and sending email messages from a computer with an IMAP client.
The most famous IMAP clients are the free version of Thunderbird and the commercial Outlook 2025, 2025 or 2025 in versions 16, 18 and 20. A personal IMAP Gmail lets you access your email from multiple computers, all connected to the internet and connected with one IMAP Gmail account.
What makes a personal IMAP Gmail? The personal IMAP Gmail is a simple IMAP Gmail that you already have an email address that receives mail messages. Then you have the mail messages saved on another device which can be accessed without the IMAP client and then synchronize the mail messages with IMAP (and this is where the name comes from).
The personal IMAP Gmail does not limit the number of mail messages that can be stored on the server, so many servers will probably never fill. How much storage space do I need? If you have two or more devices and each store a maximum of 250 mail messages, then it means that you will need at least 2GB of storage space on your Gmail account. This will be the maximum amount of space available to you.
How do I move the IMAP Gmail to the cloud? The best part about the personal IMAP Gmail is that you can sync these mail messages on the cloud for extra security, or any device that has access to the internet. There are three ways to move the IMAP Gmail to the cloud: 1) Uploading the email by saving the messages to an archive and using the download function to get your email back. 2) Using the Google Mobile App Sync option to download your mail to a smartphone or tablet. The Google Mobile App Sync feature only works on smartphones or tablets that support the Google mobile app. And if you are on Android, then you should check out our guide about how to add your account settings and password in Android with the Gmail application.
3) Adding your IMAP Gmail account to your Gmail Inbox will allow you to save the email directly from your IMAP Gmail account on the cloud or a personal account. And if you use the IMAP Gmail on Windows PC, you will be able to read the mail even if the laptop is on WiFi and on your Mac, you can also download the email from your IMAP Gmail account.
