Is Acxiom a good company to work for?
In the summer of 2025, I decided to work for Acxiom.
I am now in year 3 of my tenure at the company, so I thought I would write this blog to let my fellow new Acxiom grads and other readers know a little bit about the company before they join.
This is only a summary of all the articles I have read over the past year, and if you have any questions please ask below. Acxiom is an enterprise that provides lead generation and marketing services. It offers its services to businesses in various industries, including B2C, B2B, B2C, and B2B. However, not much is known about the company's business model or how they generate revenue. That said, the company has been accused of collecting user data without their permission.
Below is an account of what I have found out about the company and its people in my three years there. I have tried my best to avoid working for a company where I don't understand or cannot do my job well because I do not want to be responsible for their data security. Hopefully you won't either.
The Basics. For those who are curious, the company was founded in 1986 by Thomas Clabaugh, who is now the CEO and president. For many years, it ran as the Clabaugh company.
However, after a restructuring in 2025, it became a publicly traded company and changed its name to Acxiom, Inc. At this point, Thomas Clabaugh became chairman, while his daughter Jennifer L. Clabaugh took on the role of CEO.
Since then, the company has changed its name to Acxiom plc, which is a holding company owned by the Clabaugh family. In fact, Thomas Clabaugh is the first non-family member to head the company since 1986.
It is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. Acxiom is an S&P 500 Index company, which means it is part of the big business companies that the entire US stock market follows.
The company employs about 28,000 people globally, with a presence in around 140 countries. It has about 2,700 employees in New York City.
Who is working for Acxiom? As the majority of companies do, Acxiom has a large number of different teams who offer different services.
Are LiveRamp and Acxiom the same company?
The name Acxiom comes from the original founder of the company and is pronounced like "ac-see-ome.
" It was originally called "Acxiom" and then "Acxiom, Inc."
LiveRamp is owned by Acxiom and Acxiom has spun off LiveRamp. I think this is a mistake, because there was a time when Acxiom spun off LiveRamp.
Both companies are listed on the NASDAQ, so they are public. LiveRamp is actually a private company as of right now. But they are public in the sense that they have filed for a 10-K annual report.
What is the new name for Acxiom?
The company has already been renamed. Acxiom (formerly called Experian) is now Acxiom. It's a very boring name and the new company will make much more money. You can't just rename yourself like that. There are laws to protect consumers from frauds like this. The company will also use a completely different model, they'll have more than one brand (see the above post).
So what's the new name? The obvious answer is DataXu. DataXu seems to be a real company, I haven't heard of them before, but their product (marketed as reputation management) does seem to be quite popular. They seem to be offering a service for companies that want to see what their employees are saying about them on the internet, so they can manage this information.
In fact, they are saying that the new Acxiom (ie Acxiom) is anonymous reputation management platform. So Acxiom (and you) won't be able to see who owns the service. They also say that they have been named one of the most innovative companies in the United States. I can't help feeling that they don't like the name Acxiom very much.
I also notice that they don't say we when they talk about the company's history. It's all our clients, our customers, our products, our services. They're really not talking about themselves at all.
It seems that Acxiom will now be owned by dataXu. Maybe the only reason they changed the name is because they didn't want the name to mean acxiom data X.
And if you're wondering about the rest of the companies name, it's Tidbit. I do feel bad for Acxiom. They have been owned by Experian for over 25 years.
