Why has McAfee stopped working?

Yesterday I downloaded McAfee to try it out, and when I was going through the installation process it seemed to say "done" so I installed it without any problems.
Today I got an e-mail with new version of McAfee free, it said I needed to uninstall the old one then install the new one. So I thought ok. I uninstalled it, waited a couple of minutes, then I looked at my task manager and the process that uses the amount of memory was still running so I ended up having to kill it.
So the main problem is I can't remove McAfee properly, and because I tried restarting my computer today I am experiencing constant freezing but I was getting the same issue yesterday which has stopped me from uninstalling it properly. And after killing the process in my Task Manager I had to kill McAfee to get started up again which was a total hassle.
The second issue is the reason why it didn't work is that the icon on the start menu, when clicked on, says 'install process still running' then if I close the icon, it says 'still processing' and if I click it again I don't have the option of installing anymore. I'm using Windows 8.1 pro on an Asus PC with an AMD ryzen 7 3600u processor. I got this motherboard and processor from a friend who gave it to me for free since he was replacing his old machine, not much experience in programming but very skilled at pc repair so he basically made the machine for me then I built this and I haven't been working on PCs since I started Highschool i've decided to learn to program more like how he did.
I tried killing it through task manager and restarting but I still have the same issues. Any help would be great thanks.
You have to right click on the McAfee icon from the start menu and then click properties. Then check to see if the McAfee process shows in the startup applications.
Also you may want to reinstall the program again and let it complete the installation so that all the program settings are put back. Hi and welcome. I suggest running the program with admin privleges, or else it wont recognise some of the registry variables as they are protected when run as an user.
Does McAfee work on Android?

I did it once before, but I did something wrong because my VPN stopped working. I don't know what I did to stop it working. I think it had something to do with the way I downloaded and installed it, because I couldn't find it in the list of applications in the app store. So I googled and I found a tutorial to install it using an application called "Google Play Store". I downloaded that and installed it. When I go to the McAfee VPN settings and try to connect, I get a "Failed to connect" message. What do I do now? Please help me.
You have set up your McAfee client properly. Are you sure you are connecting to the same network as you originally installed the McAfee Client? If so, do you have a firewall enabled on the router that is blocking the traffic? Please contact McAfee for help. If the problem persists, you should request a refund from McAfee. Your refund will be provided after we have checked whether the problem is McAfee related.
I have the same problem. I don't understand why it won't work, and I've tried everything I can think of, so I really don't know what to do.
McAfee offers no technical support, and it doesn't provide a method of contacting their customer service. You are free to contact Google or any other online tech support service you may have.
I've tried contacting McAfee through their site but it's a hassle. The only thing I have left is to try contacting them through Google.
How long have you been using McAfee and how long have you been having this issue? I have a McAfee account for over 10 years and my VPN works fine for the past 5-6 years. Have you tried calling McAfee and asking them if they can assist you? This is the only way you will receive a technical answer.
