How do I change my default Safari on my iPhone?
I have always used Safari as my default browser and have used it for years.
It has become really annoying that when I click on a link in an email or text message, it opens up the app instead of the web page. Is there any way to change this behavior? I'd like to set Firefox as the default browser, but that is not possible because Firefox is a paid app.
I would like to do the same thing as you do, but I don't want to have to reinstall the whole operating system just so that I can change my default app. I am currently using iOS 9.2 and I am running on the iPhone 5C which does not have access to the beta OS.
Hey folks. I have been reading the thread and I guess I'll add my voice here. I have a very old Android tablet that is no longer supported by my carrier. I know it's very old tech. But I love it and love that I can read everything on it without needing to be connected to the wifi and have it download pages.
I don't really like that this is no longer an option and I want my phone to be my internet connection at all times. I want to read the news, check email and use apps without needing to go to the wifi.
The only option I know of is to remove all apps and download them all again. Not ideal, but it'll probably work.
It's a shame apple haven't thought of something to make that possible. If they did it would be a hit with the elderly who don't like having to manually select the applications they use and are often too scared to try new ones due to lack of patience. And since apple's hardware is always ahead of any competitor's its a great way of testing new apps before they come out on android. If apple could also do this it would make their hardware better than any other phone/tablet around.
You can do it, but you have to do it yourself. In the general Settings app, tap on the General tab, then find Apps, and select Apps Open With.
How do I get my Safari homepage back on my iPhone?
When you open the home screen on your iPhone, you see a list of icons that are arranged in columns.
The bottom-most column is for apps, and the top-most column is for Safari.e. But sometime, when you close Safari or open a different app, you see the home screen with all apps (even though Safari is not on your list of apps). So, you must get Safari back on your home screen.
So, here's how to get Safari back on your home screen: 1) On your iPhone, tap the home button to open the Home screen. 2) Tap on the Safari icon and then tap to select an app from the home screen. 3) Tap and hold the home button and then swipe to the right to open the Recent Apps section on the left. 4) Tap the Safari icon to open Safari.e. 5) Tap the Home button on the top-left corner of Safari to go back to your home screen.
And that's it. You can now access your favorite websites on your iPhone from the home screen as well as from the Safari app.
Note: If you're seeing the Safari icon at the bottom of the screen when you open the home screen, then you don't have any other apps on the home screen and need to add a Home app to the home screen. To do that, follow the steps in How to Add Apps to the Home Screen.
