How do I disable my lost stolen iPhone?

Hey guys.I have an iPhone 3G and I recently misplaced it. It was taken out of my car by a thief, the phone was left in the car (and I believe with the key still in it). I have checked online to see if it is possible to lock or disable my iPhone without it and every website says that it is not possible to lock the iPhone from the phone. I would love to know if there is any way that I can disable or lock my iPhone so that it is no longer traceable by anyone else.

Re: How do I disable my lost stolen iPhone? When I had a previous iPhone I used to always disable it before putting it in the fridge for longer than a few days. The reason being, when I'd lose it I didn't want to worry about it being in the fridge too long.

Nowadays I only disable it before leaving it on my bedside table for more than a few days. This is because the battery life is getting much better than it was when I had an old iPhone. But you could always try it with your iPhone 3G.

Thank you. Can you explain what you mean when you say "check online"? Have you tried asking Apple Support? It was taken out of my car by a thief, the phone was left in the car (and I believe with the key still in it).

How do I stop my iPhone from working when I stolen it?

I was going to sell my iPhone 3GS that I just got on the day my wife and I got our new apartment.

After I was done selling it, I realized that I forgot to enable my Find My iPhone (FMI) because I was on vacation. My iPhone is now in the hands of my thieves.

I've tried a few things so far: SMS Message "Fraud Alert!" to my iPhone. It doesn't show up in the mail, nor does it send any messages.

Activate Apple's security system on my iPhone. It sends an email but nothing else.

Re-enter my passcode. It doesn't show up in the mail, and the person holding it has my passcode.

Contact the FBI/DEA/LAPD. (I don't know what kind of email or other communication they would have.)
Contacting Apple support. I can't find their phone number.

Any suggestions? The best way to find the phone is to look at the data on it, the FMI, which you didn't do. If the thief did enable FMI then they can remotely wipe your phone. They can also remotely change the pin number.

If you have access to a Mac, it will allow you to remotely restore your phone. There are lots of guides online for how to do this. The process is very simple once you have the steps.

You have to use iTunes to restore it. Apple Support: There's two ways to find the phone. The first is with the security system. If the thief has turned on Find My iPhone, they will be able to use it to locate your phone. That's a good start.

The second way is to contact Apple support. Tell them what has happened. They should be able to help you find your phone. It may be that they were able to trace it back to its last known location. That's where they will tell you to start looking.

You'll have to call Apple support and ask them what the options are.
