What does Kamilla mean in Arabic?

What does Kamilah stand for?

KAMILAH.

A Muslim woman who has a good character and is devoted to God, she is pious and God-fearing, just, God- fearing, well-mannered, truthful, pure of lineage, obedient and submissive in all matters. Her head, hair and beard are covered, and she should wear long robes (covering her entire body except her face) and an ornamental belt. She must be kind and humble.

"My bestfriend, my beloved daughter, I will be forever indebted to you for the great gift of our Prophet" (Allah bless him and give him peace). I hope that in my life time I would be able to look at my grand daughters and feel the same sense of pride and joy I felt when I held and loved my first born. When we celebrate our birthdays.

But wait.my dear daughter, is this you? This could not be possible. How can you be here? Yes, I am you mother. You cannot imagine how much I care for you. But you are beautiful and still young. I know why you would want to celebrate your birthday with me! If I'm fortunate enough to become a grandmother, it would be the best moment in my life. I would be honoured to carry the name, as one of the best, my beautiful son, "KAMILAH". What a remarkable legacy it will be. I hope you too would take on this tradition with the same enthusiasm.

What a great tradition this is! Our firstborn grandchild. The family members come from several parts of the world to spend a weekend celebrating "the big day." There is always anticipation about what the future might bring for our family, especially if there is a boy, who then becomes the patriarch. As women we learn to prepare the foods and clothing appropriate for such an event. And for some reason, the "male tradition" continues and it makes for many fun occasions.

Our baby granddaughter was the first to experience one of these events, held in a hotel in Ottawa, Canada, the family gathering for the festivities. As we watched our daughter Kamilah holding her grand child in her arms, we were reminded of how proud were of her when she held and carried her for the first time.

What does Kamila mean in the Quran?

Question.

What does the hadith of the Prophet (pbuh) say? ANSWER. Kamila: An Arabic word for a girl. Also known as Kamilaat or Kamaaliyaat. The word itself means girl in Arabic.

It was the name of the beloved of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) -may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him- that is used to indicate a female. The use of the word kamila (Arabic:, meaning "girl") to refer to a woman in the Quran appears to be from before the Prophet Muhammad's time. The earliest example that we have of its use is the following statement of Abu Ishaq al-Huqayqn: A woman called Umm Khizir bint Qays, the sister of Sa'd bint Al-Najjar, was being whipped for her adultery. She was called kamila. I saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: "The whip will not break the kamila's will until it has broken that of another." (Muslim)

The word kamila has also been translated by some scholars as female and woman. One explanation for this is that the word kamila originated as an Arabic compound, containing both the feminine gender ending -ila and the more masculine gender ending -a. Thus, the word would be synonymous with the word female.

For example, the word for female in Arabic is kamila (plural form: kamilat) and the word for male is khilaaf (plural: khilaafat). Al-Khidr was the only prophet who had a wife, and she was a kamila (Quran 3:43). In this verse it is used to describe a woman who is chaste and pure (al-khudariyyat). This makes sense, as women are seen as the protectors of children.

In the verse in which the term is used to describe Mary (3:45), it is translated as pure woman, indicating that it is the name given to Mary after she was purified from her impurity.
