On my macbook air 2026 I had to do a couple of things. 1) when you connect to a network in settings > network > change to ethernet tab and uncheck "Use wireless network for available networks". 2) remove the router or modem ip address from the settings > network > proxy and dns options> put in the ip address of your dsl modem or whatever it was (my netgear router was 192.168.10.1)
I'm having some problems with this solution so I'm going to post something similar but slightly different.
