What games does the PS5 play?
That's a pretty big question and one that no one really has answer to at the moment. We're still well into the launch window and we know very little about what the PS5 will play - or won't play. It's a shame because a lot of us want to see it play the games we have on the console currently, but if the PS5 doesn't play what we have then the question remains: ?
Let's dive into some theories as to what it could play. The games the PS5 plays. I'm going to try to make this list as plausible as possible, but in the interest of fairness let's not all say Yes! I totally knew this. What is true is that, whatever games are announced, there will almost certainly be a version of the PS5 that can play those games. There will be one console in particular that is the PS5 version of those games. There will be lots of other versions, too, for the PS4 Slim, for the PS4 Pro, and so on.
But the key part of the equation is: which ones do you play? There are a couple of ways you can think about that. One way is to look at which games are being released in the current generation and think about which ones you might want to play on a new console. The other way is to think about games that are already being made for the PS5 and ask yourself which ones you might want to play on the next generation console. Both approaches will probably point towards the same conclusion.
One of the reasons why people are so keen to see what the PS5 can play is that a lot of the games that were promised are no longer being made and there are precious few games that are being announced. The PS4 was launched with 20,000 games listed and, although it has added another 17,000 to that figure, there aren't that many games being made in the current generation. You could argue that this is mainly down to the fact that the PS4 is a bit slow, but the truth is that it has had a relatively quiet generation. There's no game like the first Uncharted or No Man's Sky. There isn't even a game like Call of Duty.
How much will the PS6 cost?
The Xbox One X is priced at 399.
So a 499 PS6 won't be any more expensive than the 399 PS5, we'd say. The PS5 launched with a 4K Blu-ray player, which can be upgraded to a slimline Ultra HD Blu-ray player for 249.99, so even if Sony is planning to offer a cheaper, cut-price alternative, it will still cost around 349. A lower price point might indicate that the PS6 is aimed more at the mainstream market - Sony has often said that this is its approach to the PS4's successor. However, that still puts it above the Xbox One X, as Microsoft aims to sell its console at 350.
Sony's other major rivals are already preparing their consoles' successors. Microsoft is bringing a new game-streaming service for the Xbox Series X (which won't be released until next year), and rival Nintendo is looking to release the Switch 2 this year. We expect the next generation of consoles to be announced at E3 in June next year.
Do you really need a PS5?
After a long wait, we finally have a first look at the PS5.
The console is said to be revealed on Tuesday, 15th November, and we're ready to see what Sony has in store for us.
The PS5 is expected to be the 'ultimate gamer' console, boasting an upgraded CPU, new features, better audio, VR support, an enhanced camera, and more. However, will it be worth buying? Let's find out. What is the PS5? For many, the PS5 is not even a thought. If you aren't a gamer, you may not be able to tell what the PS5 is without looking at the picture below.
But if you are a gamer, then you know exactly what the PS5 is. Image via wikimedia. The PS5 is essentially the next generation of PlayStation, coming about a year after the release of the PS4. It's expected to be released in 2025, so the exact date is still unknown. We know that it's being revealed on 15th November, but it might take a few months to release.
How much will it cost? Will it be worth the money? The PS5 is currently being shown off at E3. It's not even being officially announced yet, so we won't be able to see a price until it's released.
We don't expect it to cost anywhere near 500, but if it does, it might be worth buying for other reasons. The first reason is because it will be the most powerful console on the market, even beating the Xbox One S. It might better to get a PS4 Pro than a PS5, but if you have 400 spare and want the best, then the PS5 should be worth it.
If you're a hardcore gamer, then there's also the chance that you'll be able to get more games for the console.
