Is Slack pricing per user?
How much do I pay for my Slack team?
I use Slack with a small team of five. It has been a great success. We recently hit our five year mark, and have just recently migrated to Slack Business. After the migration, I noticed that were paying by user for Slack Business. We are only paying for the number of users, so if you were thinking about signing up for Slack Business, I suggest you read this.

How much is Slack every month?
One of the biggest questions that Slack has been dealing with since it went public in 2025 is how many people use it.
The reason it's asked in a non-obvious way is that Slack grew its user base significantly, but not by as much as the price of the equity in the company. How can that be? Is Slack actually selling more than it gets paid per month from users? In early 2025, the company launched a report that showed a total of 14 billion messages were exchanged across all channels in a year, and it's unclear just how much every one of those communications generated, so we didn't know how it was monetizing these services. In March 2025, the company released its latest version of its revenue model, dubbed Slack Fund. For context, there are about 10 billion devices in the world that can access the internet, including phones, laptops, smart watches, cars, tablets, and even smart TVs, according to Machina Research. The average number of monthly active devices accessing the internet is 3. If most people used Slack at least once a week which is a big if for an on-premises app like Slack that puts the company's monthly active users at roughly 20 million. That's a nice base to start with, though still leaves open the question of just how profitable the service actually is.
To figure out this, Business Insider talked with Slack's head of revenue growth, Sashi Sriskanda, who oversees the organization, as well as chief operating officer and general counsel, Kevin O'Brien, to better understand how Slack funds itself. O'Brien told us that Slack did not disclose how many monthly users were on the service. But from what we heard, it's between 22.6 million and 23 million per month.
What Slack needs for business. Slack says it makes money from four areas: ad sales, enterprise deals, partnerships, and consulting fees.
Can I use Slack for free?
You can, and I've been using it for years.
It's an excellent tool, I just need to share the cost of my hosting with them.
Can I use Google Hangouts for free? Absolutely. There are many apps that will connect your computer to your smartphone or tablet, and use that as a screen for the chat window. You can then share your webcam, mic and speakers with anyone else in the room.
I'm paying for a phone, is it free to use Skype? Not exactly. If you have a Windows Phone, it's free, but if you have an Android device, you'll need to buy it through Skype's store.99/day.
What are the best smartphones? It depends on what you're looking for, but Samsung and Apple are certainly the two most popular options. There's no clear favorite, so I'd say the best option is whatever device has the most apps you want.
Can I get my work done without an iPhone? Yes, it's definitely possible. Just get a laptop and get used to using it for everything.
How much does a smartphone cost? That's very difficult to answer. It varies by carrier, manufacturer, model, and of course the features you want. The best way to find the price is to go to one of the large online shopping websites, like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and so on.
What's the best camera? That really depends on what you want to do. If you're taking photographs, the best cameras are going to be large and heavy, like DSLRs. They'll allow you to change settings and have tons of options for how to capture that perfect shot. If you're looking for something more portable, there are plenty of compact cameras available that can be had for a few hundred dollars.
Do all Android devices run the same software? Different manufacturers and carriers often make their own customizations to the software, so you can't really compare them unless you're using the same software. What is the best way to make money on the Internet? I don't think there's a single best way. You could do a lot of different things.
Is paying for Slack worth it?
When we use a messaging app, it is very clear that we want to communicate with others.
I have been using Slack for the past couple of months, and I feel that I need to communicate with other team members while I am working. It's not only a messaging app, but it has other apps within it. The most obvious one is the Calendar, which is something you would expect to be in an application. If you have followed any of my blog posts, you would have seen that I am using Trello and Jira as my issue tracking tools. While these two do a pretty good job, I was looking for something more for them. So, I decided to use Slack as my issue tracking tool. When I got started using Slack, I also got this impression. The UI was intuitive and easy to use. I was wondering if I will get enough value out of it.
Since I am an individual user, I can't use the free plans for the paid ones. However, I think that paying for Slack is worth it. I also feel that the cost is fair for using a service such as Slack for your team communication. I am using one desktop with four devices and a mobile phone. I am using one desktop to take screen shots of the app and my email. I use another desktop to create new issues with Trello. I use my Android phone to keep track of my emails, and another Android phone to read my email and text messages. It's really hard to keep up with emails because there are so many things going on. Slack is my way of keeping up with what my co-workers are doing. I can create new issues in Trello, and I am notified in Slack whenever there are updates in Trello. I use both Trello and Slack to communicate with my team members, and these applications work together very well. One of the things I like about Slack is the integration with services that are important for me. It allows me to create new issues in Trello, and as soon as an email comes in or I send a text message to someone, it gets updated in Trello. I am also able to reply to messages from both Slack and Trello.
I use Trello for tracking issues that I'm working on. I love its simplicity and the way I can access information on it via a web browser (or other internet connected device).
