How do I add NordVPN to my Firefox browser?
I want to start my journey into using OpenVPN but I don't know how to add the NordVPN service to Firefox. Any tips would be helpful.
Thanks for your assistance! This video takes a quick tour of how to get started with VPN and OpenVPN. You should know: Your ISP, or provider, may monitor or log your internet activity. In most states, you need to obtain a business or occupation tax ID. You'll need to register a business, if you don't have one yet. In some cases, you may have to register as an agent of the US government. You may lose your privacy when using an ISP proxy server, which stores, logs, or monitors your internet activity. These tips and examples are aimed towards the beginner who doesn't have much experience using VPNs, such as beginners here at NordVPN, and those who aren't sure how a VPN works (the best VPNs for beginners). I am not an expert in the field of VPN and proxy servers - I learned about them while I was creating this series. If you have suggestions on how I can improve my articles or other things like tutorials, please share your thoughts and your ideas on how I can make things better! You can visit my website where you'll see some articles that I have created. You'll also find a free e-book called How to Start Using VPN that you're sure to find useful for getting started with using VPN services such as NordVPN. And of course, if you've got any specific questions related to the field of VPN, please visit the NordVPN Support Forums to ask them directly.

OpenVPN allows you to setup a VPN server that will act as a proxy for your internet connection. NordVPN provides VPN services, but OpenVPN functionality is optional. In most cases, you don't need to be familiar with OpenVPN before you get going with NordVPN.
How do I add VPN extensions to Firefox?
I have been working a long time with OpenVPN-Client and OpenVPN-Server.
OpenVPN-Client is a VPN which runs on my laptop. It was the easiest to get work running. For testing, and also for connecting to my workplace and to my mobile I used OpenVPN-Server which needs to be installed on my mobile and workplace computers (and is not compatible with Ubuntu-12.04).
I had already configured my mobile and desktop to use the same OpenVPN-Client, but unfortunately the connection from the computer of the work was very unstable and slow. So I tried to configure OpenVPN-Client again for desktop. It turned out that it already has this connection. But it is configured to a very long password (about 20 character-long! It had to be changed.
But now, OpenVPN-Client did not work correctly anymore. How can I add VPN extensions to Firefox? If that is possible at all? I have read online that I have to add extensions to a folder named "browser". That seemed to be ok, but when I am trying to find this folder (which may not even exist), I just don't find it.
I tried to enter the URL of the wiki where I learned about this, but it did not work. The browser opens (when you enter the URL) but when the link is clicked, nothing happens.
I am sure it has something to do with "browser" (at least a folder called so), because, well, that's what I did. I really don't know where to look for this. So how can I add VPN extensions to Firefox? (Please answer without links to tutorials, they are too easy to find, too easy to skip, and are most probably not the right way of doing this.) Click Firefox menu > Add-ons > Get Add-ons. And then navigate to the .tar.gz file containing the extension package you want (such as openvpn) and click Extract to Install. You can select the package directory you want to install the add-on to.
