Who killed Jerome in the scriptic crime stories?

There is a certain kind of "crime" that is never mentioned in the "scriptic crime stories", and that is the killing of Jerome by Jerome.

There are several references to his killing, but they all take place after the scriptic crime is done. They are just incidental details, with no apparent purpose. I have been wondering about this since I first started reading the stories.

My question is: Who killed Jerome? It's a mystery. The only thing I can think is that it's an old crime story, and the killer is someone who has been there all along.

But who? Is it because he was already dead? Or because he died right after he did something wrong? "The plot is usually the thing that matters in the long run. The characters are just the cogs that get you from one to the next." - Alastair Reynolds

I don't know. I don't think it's ever addressed, except in the very early scripts, when they were trying to figure out what the series would be like. I think the writer wanted the story to be as simple as possible, so they just created the character as a generic mobster.

There's another thread on this somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Thank you for looking for it. I hope you find it! I'm always interested in this kind of thing, because the mystery of who killed Jerome fascinates me.

In any case, I found it. It was a thread started by the moderator over on the Scripts forum, and you can read the entire discussion there.
