Is there a completely free cell phone location tracking?

Can you track live location of a mobile?

Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to track the live location of a mobile phone?

It's not a web app, but a software that runs on a PC and can connect to mobile phone via bluetooth. I want to find out, if this information is available for all phones? Is there a way to track mobile in real time? It's possible, but not with the GPS or Cell tower location services. It's more about a triangulation method where you track two or three phones and determine their position by calculating their difference in latitude, longitude and altitude.

The Samsung S4 can do all that and more in spite of being on contract with AT&T. So why can't other devices do that? AT&T can't give me an iphone because they are controlled by apple which also dictates what apps I can have on my device, but they can give me a phone controlled by android which uses the open-source kernel and has more apps available to install. The AT&T iphone on the other hand, if I don't want to buy more minutes and can't unlock it, is locked down in the same way they would an AT&T iphone that wasn't bought directly from ATT's headquarter.

On the other hand, my laptop was able to install any programs I wanted, even while I'm on my contract period, so how is my phone really any different? The way I read his response is that he's looking at the phone like he owns it; he wants it unlocked so he can replace it with another model if he chooses to later, or sell it for parts. He said AT&T doesn't see it that way, therefore he has no need for an upgrade, no desire to sell his current device to others, and won't use a third party unlock service even if he wanted to. He just wants his contract to be up before he buys an unlocked model.

That's what I would tell my parents too, that my choice to go with AT&T was a business decision, not a personal choice, otherwise I wouldn't have used my contract options to pay as low as I did while buying my current phone. I had both at the same time (and currently still have my S2 and old phone). If you don't want the updates then why are you paying for it? I got the new phone at the end of the year and the one I have now is already running a fairly recent OS that was only released at the beginning of 2025. It'll probably stay that way till the end of the contract next year. Unless you feel your new phone isn't enough, in which case you have two choices.

Is there a completely free cell phone location tracking?

There is no free cell phone location tracking, if you have the time or motivation to do it.

The cell phone that you're using to read this page has a cellular tower associated with it and so it has an IP address. Google has mapped out a few ways of finding your IP address, some of which are mentioned below. You'll have to pay for them. They're not free. Even if you are just curious about your own IP address, it is illegal to snoop on someone else's IP address without their consent. That's trespassing, which is why most of the free location tracking services are not legal in the U.S. In the U., the federal government has jurisdiction over criminal issues related to internet access, as stated in the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.

However, since they only track IP addresses, this information can be gathered using the same basic method for any wifi connection and doesn't have to be based on your phone or internet provider. You can look up your IP address through a website like What Is My IP Address? It may not give you exact location details, but it is another method for tracking and monitoring a computer or device IP address. There are other websites that will give you the location of your IP address. For example, whatismyipaddress.org provides the IP address location (city/state) and location (country) of a device's network connection. Another, IP-Geo.net, gives more in-depth information for the device owner to purchase.

Using Google to locate your own IP address. You can find out the city and state where your IP address is located using a simple Google search. This method is not free, however. I have seen reports from websites like Google Trends (google.com/trends/hottrends) and similar resources that tell you the most popular searches that have been made within that particular geographical region at a specific point in time. The reason why this isn't completely free is because the user who has made that search has had to pay for it. Even though you're not paying money for this search, there is a small percentage that is used to offset the cost of running and maintaining the site.
