How do I turn on less secure apps in Google Workspace?

Is Google less secure app access no longer available?

I recently used my Nexus 5 to test out the new Google Play Services 7.

0 update. After the update, I found that the app access that I had been using for years is now gone. Is this a feature that has been removed, or is it just not available?
I'm not sure if the app access is the same as the App Ops controls in the Security & Location section of settings. When you turn on access to Google Play services, you also enable Google Play services to provide app access. To change the settings, open Settings and tap Apps. Then select "Google Play services".

What is the alternative of less secure apps in Gmail?

I have the habit of turning off the app on every browser when my Gmail tab is opened and hence not seeing the app in my system.

It's inconvenient.

Gmail will automatically open the browser-based Gmail site for you, if your browser is configured to use that URL for Google Chrome. From the screen shot you have given, it is evident that you have Gmail as default in your browser's homepage, so when you click on the Gmail app button, you will go to the Gmail site.

The alternative you are mentioning will make no sense as Gmail is there on the Google Chrome browser tab, which you must be viewing. You don't need to switch to Gmail app and then back to the Chrome browser tab, you can just tap on the Gmail app when you are on the browser window which has the Google Chrome icon in it.

Is Google removing less secure apps?

In the last few days, I've noticed that there are fewer apps from my trusted publishers on the Google Play Store.

The two biggest apps on my phone and in my home screen are Twitter (via Google Play Services) and Facebook. That's odd, since they're a very trustworthy publisher who I'd always assumed to be included in Google's safe app list. The apps I'm missing now are the ones I've been using for a long time -- Facebook, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, etc. - all via Google's own mobile app development kit.

Is Google's decision to block apps from publishers like WhatsApp from being included in the safe list simply because of a policy change or is it really removing these apps from the store? I have to note that I'm not really worried about this change since I can keep my Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp accounts on my mobile web browser, rather than through the mobile apps. But this does seem like a big change in how the Android system is handling apps. Is it going to go through all of my apps and decide if they're malicious, or just the ones that I've installed? I'd imagine the former, but that would mean a lot of manual labor (or possibly no labor at all, if you can program your own safe app list). Or am I imagining too much and Google is just taking a more automated approach?

So after using the Google Play Store since it was called the Android Market, then Android Market 2.0, then the Google Play Store, and now it's the Google Play Store, I don't really have anything negative to say about it, but now I can't access all of my favorite apps, without switching between each of my devices, because those apps aren't on my devices anymore.

That's definitely not an opinion I can have. If any of the app developers, whom I've bought countless apps from, were to change their app's name, I'd notice it and update my phone right away. Not with Google Play, which has been a part of my daily life for the last year, though, now it's going to get irritating.

It seems that Google is trying to improve the quality of apps in the Play Store. In the past few days, apps that use certain components that trigger anti-malware systems, such as those based on OpenSSL, have been removed from the Play Store.
