While I found it pretty intriguing at the time, I don't know that it was worth my time to sign up right away. After all, it only has a few apps on it.

I decided to take a look around the website at the apps available on it. I noticed that a lot of what you can find on the Apple Store for free were also available on the Surfshark store and vice versa. Then I looked to see what other apps were available for sale on the iTunes app store and not only did a lot of the apps cost much more than their price on the Surfshark website, but I also found that a lot of the apps listed as free were in fact available for free on the Apple Store.

This got me thinking. Was there any value to using Surfshark? The answer seems to be a hard 'no' for the most part. Yes, some of the apps work better, are more up-to-date or are a bit less buggy than the free versions, but the price doesn't seem to justify it for most of them.

If you look at Surfshark on a list of all the web apps that are available for free on the App Store (there are more than 10,000 of them), the number of apps that will have to be added is pretty low. Most of them have less than 50 downloads at the time of this writing and the average download size of the Surfshark apps is under 1.5MB. So, I don't think you'd be missing too much by going with the free versions.

For a lot of people, the apps available on Surfshark do include the things that make you notice them: faster browsing or maybe easier access to specific features or better looking ads, etc. The service has the advantage of being a one-stop shop, you don't need to add the individual apps and you get them all for the same price. And it does a decent job of organizing them.

The problem is that none of the apps really use the advantages that Surfshark gives them.
