How do I fix VPN stuck on connecting?

I have a VPN with my isp.

It connects fine for the first time but every time I close and re open the connection I get the error message that says VPN connection failed. I have tried restarting my computer but it still won't work. I have also tried to remove the VPN connection from network manager but it doesn't work either. I have a linksys router and the isp is comcast.

My problem is that I am getting tired of constantly having to go online and disconnect/reconnect. The other day I was at the hospital and all my data had disconnected and when I got back to my house I just had to reconnect everything. It is very annoying and frustrating.
