Where is record macro in Excel?

Hi all, is it possible to record a macro in excel to count the number of pages in an XLS document?

I'm using Excel 2023. I've searched the internet but only found that I can make a counter in the VBA editor. Can I make a real counter in my file?

What you're looking for is a "Text-to-Speech" macro. There is a macro for recording Text-to-Speech. The VBA for that macro can be found here:

It's not a direct link to the macro, but it's a link to a tutorial that is written by someone who actually wrote the macro. The first part of the tutorial shows you how to create the macro, and the second part gives you an example of how to use the macro.

What is the use of macro in Excel?

I am working in a Excel spreadsheet.

I know there are two types of macro: user-defined function and VBA macro.

What is the use of both macros? I mean what will happen if I write a macro which does the following: Find the cell with the number 5 in it.2. If the cell contains any special characters, remove them.3. Copy the cell and paste the values in the corresponding cells in another sheet.

Which one of the above-mentioned macros will do the above mentioned work, user defined function or VBA macro? In my mind it is the macro, but I might be wrong. I dont have much experience in writing macros for excel, so can some one tell me which macro to write for my situation.

I will try to explain it with the help of a simple example: Say I have a cell B10 with values "Hello world" in it. Now, I want to find out whether B10 contains a special character or not. In such a case, I want to remove all the special characters from the cell. Then I want to copy the cell and paste the value in A1.

So, my macro would look like this: If B10 Contains Special Characters:Remove Special Characters:Copy Value to A1. This is what I did by writing the macro. But, when I go to Debug it says "Macro Error: Run-time error '3061'. Subscript out of range". Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and where? Thanks.

Yes, we're all getting better at using the forum. You should never use a formula to get a result without knowing exactly what the result should be. If you have a cell which can be filled with text or numbers or formulas and you want to select a result you can only ever get by running your macro, then it's best to make a macro. Now, this isn't to say that Excel has no tools for you to do this. If you have the Data Validation and Nested Formulas options you can get this, but its quite different.

So, if your question is to get the cell B10 to display the words Hello World then the best way to do this is to copy it and paste it somewhere else and delete the cells around it so that you have this.

What key is record macro?

jcarl: ok, go to Tools->Startup Applications.

vadviktor no clue . First time here I have just noticed and old machine I've built myself with a 3.0-20-generic kernel running lucid - and it's at this moment using the lucid repos as the only repository for it's sources - it must have got to a stage where someone put lucid repos back on my source.list so I went in and removed them again, but that didn't seem to help
MonkeyDust: i'll try it. jubo2: I have, just dont' know what that means. I was going to tell you that the version # is not important, but then I started wondering if it was possible to get "the number" instead of "-20". jcarl: you can make it read your home-folder where the apps store their settings. jubo2: No. hey guys can someone help me. My hd is broken now m3kk, ask a question. I'm stuck with a black screen on xubuntu 12.04 live CD boot after loading. after starting x. nothing happends, black screen. jubo2: I have nothing open, but it seems to be there already: Startup Applications > Default Applications > Ubuntu Software Center. I have some backup. Is there any way of using that backup to fix? hmm. Jcarl: well ok m3kk, tried booting it in recovery mode?
