Is the Huawei Health app discontinued?

We're not sure.

We did use it as a resource during development of the new Huawei Watch (Review) for Android Wear, but we can't seem to find anything that confirms that it's still in Google Play or being updated. If you still have it installed, please be sure to remove it before continuing as there is some known issues with it and it is no longer in our testing.

One such example is when running on Android Marshmallow devices that have the Digital Wellbeing (DP2) feature enabled, after downloading the Health app the device will crash whenever a new alarm ringtone or vibration alert is played. This would make sense if the Health app was using the Play Services APIs, but isn't it just a replacement of another? We aren't able to answer that and will need to leave the decision up to you whether to uninstall or not.

Anyway, what about all of those other apps that we used to download onto Android wear? Well, it's easy enough to switch out the Watch app on your Watch for an alternative, but the app list is a little restricted at the moment. Apps you might have come to expect and use in general - Alarm, Music, Calendar, and S Health are pre-installed. But we'll quickly dive into adding additional apps using ADB as the installation process is pretty painless, though this method can only be used on an Android Wear enabled device and is likely dependent on the operating system. So for your reference here's how you add an app:

Install the Android Wear APK into the watch using ADB using the command adb install-multiple .apk The ADB install commands will get the latest install package files as a zip containing everything needed to install the new package. So if there are more options available we recommend getting the Android Wear APK from the Google Play Store, but be sure to get the latest version as updates from time to time are available.

For example, if a new Android Wear update adds new features you will want to install the package as it contains all the Android Wear features you're missing out on. For example, if you install a later version of Android Wear you won't receive the Google Fit integration, etc.

Open the Huawei Health app. Tap +. Select your Huawei watch and press OK. The Huawei Watch Connections guide will appear on your Huawei smartphone screen. Download the Huawei Health app on your Huawei smartphone. Enter your phone number, select Next and tap Done.

Enter the PIN code, select Next and tap Done. Tap Done. The Huawei Health app will be added to your list of apps on your Huawei smartphone. Select your Huawei Watch and press OK.
