What is the difference between DNS and IP address?
I am new to the networking world and just want to know the difference between them. The difference is in how they are used. DNS is a Domain Name System, it is an addressing scheme that allows you to address computers and resources on a network. It maps names to IP addresses.
An IP address is a numerical identifier for a computer or server on a network. It is a unique address which identifies a particular computer.
When you see an IP address, you are seeing the numerical equivalent of the name that was used to access the computer. You could be using the name "google.com" to access the google servers, but if you type in the IP address, you get the same results. The name "google.com" is converted to the IP address "173.194.34.13".
With DNS, the reverse happens. The DNS server converts the name to the IP address, so "google.com" maps to the IP address "173.
How to fix DNS server problem?
There was a DNS server problem on my computer.
It was showing the error message: Error resolving 'www.somedomain.com': timed out. I did not know what this error meant.
What is DNS server and how it works? The Domain Name System (DNS) is a network of servers that translate human-readable domain names into IP addresses. This process, which is called name resolution, is critical to the functioning of the Internet. If a web page is not available, the Domain Name System can find out the IP address of the website.
Why do I get an error when trying to access a website? A site may be experiencing problems. Can I fix this problem by myself? Yes, there are several options that you can try. Option 1 - DNS Server Problems. If you're using Windows, go to the Control Panel and open Network and Internet Connections. If your Internet connection is set to a DHCP server, check the "DNS Servers" setting. If it's set to automatic, change it to manual.
Press the OK button. In the list of all connected networks, press the Connect to a new wireless network button. Enter the network name or the MAC address of the access point. In the list of wireless networks, select the one you want to connect to. You may see a message that says that "there was a problem connecting to the wireless network." If this message appears, press the OK button.
Option 2 - Router. If your Internet connection is set to a router, check the settings of your router. Option 3 - Computer. If you use a web browser to visit websites, try a different web browser. To try a different web browser, open Internet Explorer.
In Internet Explorer, click the File tab at the top of the screen. In the Open or Save As dialog box, click Internet Explorer. Click the Advanced button. In the Trust Center dialog box, under the Security tab, select the Internet (Default) zone. In the Trust Center dialog box, click the Advanced tab. In the Internet Options dialog box, on the Privacy tab, click Settings. In the Privacy Settings dialog box, select the Privacy level for history.
