We've created a list of every country in the world and put our Netflix data to the test: what films and series are found in each country, and what shows could we stream anywhere? We used data from over 5,000 new Netflix members, and over half a million hours watching TV. We took the top-ranked film titles in each country, the top-rated TV shows for each country, along with the most streamed episodes per title.

Our verdict? Netflix content is surprisingly consistent - we can watch any of Netflix's original programmes anywhere around the world. There are, however, some countries with particularly good programming (for example, Japan), and several countries with consistently better than average (Australia and Germany) and poor content (Iceland).

Read on to find out where you can get the best Netflix selection. What films have appeared the most in every country? We looked at what titles played in Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, US and India. What Netflix shows are only in other countries?

Most of Netflix's original series and films are only available in the United States.

That is a shame. As we wrote about in a recent article, Netflix has more than 37 million subscribers and there are more than 50 countries that have signed on to Netflix, including China, Mexico, Japan and India. Netflix shows and films would be more accessible if Netflix had more offerings outside of the United States.

Here are some of the programs that are only available outside of the United States. The Umbrella Academy. Netflix has started selling this show in Canada. Other countries will have to wait until 2025 because it hasn't premiered yet. The Umbrella Academy features a crew of former superheroes, known as The Umbrella Academy, who were kicked out of their teams after blowing up a city. Now, they are working together in an effort to make things right. In doing so, they're forced to battle their own pasts and try to work together to save the world from complete destruction.

As of the release of this page, we've tried to list all shows and movies available in the USWe're not sure if that list is exhaustive, so if you know of something that should be on the list that isn't, please drop us a comment.

Is currently available in the USA. Is not available via Netflix streaming (Netflix on demand). The Netflix streaming service is the same one as in Canada and most of the rest of the world, but there are some minor differences in the content that are available to American users. The big one is that the service does not offer access to HBO shows and movies, including shows like Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Eastbound and Down, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. (This could change in the future though.) There are also some local versions of shows like Community and 30 Rock that are only available in the USIt's worth noting that a few international series like Homeland are also only available in the USIf you live outside the USA, it might make sense to subscribe to a US based Netflix streaming account if you want to watch these shows.

Please note that Netflix isn't the only way to watch these shows or movies, and that the legality of the streaming is going to vary from state to state. Also, the site lists availability, not the licensing, so not all shows and movies are necessarily available legally.
