We are trying to setup failover DNS servers to provide failover DNS for a web application.

For this, we have multiple options like: A) Run 2 DNS servers on two public IPs, with both providing the same records and pointing to the application (using round-robin DNS). B) Use a CDN service like Amazon CloudFront (or even your own AWS based CDN) to load balance all DNS requests for our application. C) Use a DNS load balancer service like OpenDNS (we did not find answer for this). So, if you have used these DNS services in the past and could suggest how do you use these DNS services in the way that I explained above, it would be really helpful. The answers below provide the answers in different ways: I have setup several DNS servers at the same time. There are several methods of doing this: a) With a single public IP for the nameserver. B) With multiple public IPs for the nameserver. C) Round-robin DNS so the record is requested by a different nameserver. D) Point a second nameserver at the first.
