My question is: is manual testing a good career?

How does it compare to traditional software QA? My experience is a tester who was hired for my previous employer's QA team. They would always have something for me to do while another team member tested an application or other product. I would go through several training courses before each new product and always worked with someone from that department when that team had a product test. It has been years since I last worked in QA, and I wonder what my options are now. It's not that I'm not interested in testing, but I want a full-time job rather than part-time. Does anyone have any advice?
