Is Proton VPN free for Android?

I was very hesitant about installing Proton VPN and I finally have some free time to spare to evaluate it.

I have been using free OVPN for quite a long time, but just because it is free doesn't mean that it is safe. Therefore, I decided to download a trial version of Proton VPN.

How does Proton VPN work? When it comes to VPN protocols, there are two types - OpenVPN and PPTP. Some VPNs use these two protocols but Proton VPN claims to support more than 20 protocols, including OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, SSTP, Secure Shell, Shadowsocks, and the recently announced IKEv2 protocol.

Proton VPN makes no mention of which protocols are supported or how it can be configured. The best thing about Proton VPN is that you get an entire year of service for free and you get five devices to connect to. To be fair, this is good enough for those who aren't trying to hide anything - although it can be limiting in other scenarios.

I downloaded the Proton VPN app from the Google Play Store. The installation was simple - once the app is installed, the mobile website provides the option to use this app on your existing data plan. Alternatively, you can install the Proton VPN app on a smartphone without a data plan, so be sure to understand what risks you may run when using an unprotected mobile hotspot.

I would suggest avoiding the Proton VPN website and downloading their app from the Play Store as well. When you use the app, the login is required to protect your personal information. However, you can enable the Always Stay Logged In option in the settings.

I had an issue where the Always stay logged in option was not listed under the network settings on my mobile. This meant that I couldn't change this option at all. The workaround was to go to the network settings in Android, disable the network, wait 5 minutes, then re-enable the Wi-Fi and click on the Proton VPN network again.

The VPN software is not compatible with Android 2.x or older versions. If you have such an old phone, you can try to manually update the apps via Play Store.

The best way to ensure that you are safe is to use a good VPN and then only download your essential apps.

Most of us have a VPN set up for our home internet connection, but what about those of us who are on a different connection? If your Internet provider doesn't allow VPN connections, it could be that your work, school or home office ISP may offer a VPN service. Maybe they didn't realize how great a benefit a VPN would be, because most VPN services are free. I can't say that I've noticed any difference in my network speed using one of the many VPN services, because the service speeds up a site on my mobile devices anyway. What about when you are roaming? Do you want to use this VPN while traveling? Can you trust your phone while you are on vacation? Well, maybe you can. But even the most reliable ones will likely still give up if asked for too much of a security challenge. A VPN service provider might keep records about which VPN services are commonly used in countries such as Egypt, Libya, Iran, China and North Korea. The information from those countries comes from intelligence sources like the FBI and the CIA VPN can help keep you from having your identity and traffic monitored. It can also help prevent you from being connected to another country's ISP. It can help you get around geoblocks that prevent you from getting access to some sites. That being said, a VPN can get in the way of the things that you really care about. And no one wants that. Even if it does help you with your security, a VPN slows down your browsing. A VPN also uses up your data plan on a mobile phone or your data cap if you get a WiFi hotspot connection. In other words, a VPN isn't useful when you want to use your device with a specific app or browse websites. And when the time comes that you do need your VPN, the best free VPNs might not be as safe as you think. With that being said, if you want to use a VPN, I will try to point you towards those free ones that are guaranteed to be as secure as possible, so you can use them to your advantage.

What is a VPN? You may have seen them around your office, but probably don't understand them.

Does Proton VPN cost money?

I'm planning on buying a ProtonVPN.

I'm thinking of buying it. I don't want to get scammed by having my money stolen. How much is ProtonVPN worth in the market?01? How do I know what's really the deal?

Yes, you can download it for free, but how many free services do you know of that you can access over the Internet without paying for them? ProtonVPN is not one of them. I'm sure they'd be happy to have your money, but the fact is that you can do almost everything without paying them for it.

There is no such thing as free VPN. There are two types of VPN services - free and paid. Paid VPNs usually give you a decent amount of features, while free ones only provide limited features, or some may require you to sign up for their email list. However, if you ever feel cheated by a paid service, you can always get back the money you've paid.

As for ProtonVPN, I personally think it's a very nice service. It's been years since I downloaded it, but from what I remember, it did not cost anything (except your email address). They're very professional when it comes to customer service, and their support staff is also very friendly. You can read reviews about them on Google and other sites.

One way to learn more about ProtonVPN is to use their "About" page on their website. It will tell you what they offer and how much they charge for their service. Their terms of service and privacy policy can be viewed too.

The service is a bit expensive, but you're talking about a service that is worth the price. You might want to consider using their free service too though. Just to be sure that they are willing to refund your money if the service does not work for you.
