Why is Tor being blocked?

Can Tor be traced?

I have been searching for answers and some are saying that if you want to trace the source of your browsing/Tor can be traced.

Is this true? I've been using it for awhile but I never really had any reason to. Now I'm curious if I can be traced? If you go on the tor-talk mailing list, the consensus is that you cannot be tracked when using the onion services protocol. If you choose to use exit nodes, then that's a different matter. You'll need to look at the exit nodes in your area and see if they're blacklisted.

As for your question, if you are going to the FBI, you are giving up a bit more information than you really need. I think that most of the time, they won't even need to know where you were, just what you were doing, at what time, and how much you spent.

But if you are worried, you can do the following: Change your IP address every week or so, and put them all in a bucket. Install a web proxy on your computer, that forwards to your bucket of IP addresses. When you are done browsing, delete your IP addresses from the bucket, so that only one will remain. Turn off your proxy server. Wait for the FBI to come knocking. I don't know what they could do with that info, but I'm sure that it would make their job easier. There are two things you need to worry about. The first is that a computer running Tor may be compromised. The second is that a computer running Tor might be compromised by the Tor network, eg by someone in the Tor network.

A compromised Tor client may allow an attacker to trace who is using it and when. But unless they know your IP address, they cannot link you to a particular website. This does not mean that you cannot be tracked. It simply means that an attacker must know your IP address in order to track you.

A compromised Tor client may allow an attacker to try to deanonymize you by tracing who you are and where you are. This could be done, for example, by tracing your movements through the Tor network. Again, unless the attacker knows your IP address, they cannot link your movements to a particular website.

Can I use Tor on my Android phone?

The short answer is no.

But the long answer is yes, provided you already have an internet connection and have installed Tor in your computer before trying to use it.

But how can I install Tor on my Android device? We are not going to go into the details of installing Tor on a mobile phone or tablet. It is not our purpose here. This article is about using a VPN (virtual private network) on your mobile device. The answer to this question is not as straightforward as you might expect.

Tor is one of the most sophisticated pieces of software available today. It offers many features, some which are completely unique. These features are difficult to include in any app. It requires a lot of processing power to run, especially on mobile devices.

Many people who have tried to use Tor on their Android phones had some success, but for many of us the experience was disappointing. When you are downloading Tor on your mobile device, you are asking the device to do something that will slow down the device. As a result, your device might be unusable for a short period of time after the installation.

Before you get started, you should know that this guide will only work if you have installed and configured Tor on your PC. If you don't have a PC, you can find a guide to install and configure Tor on Windows in our other blog post.

The solution. There are a number of ways to install a VPN on your mobile device. We'll walk you through one of them, the OpenVPN solution.

Our recommendation is to use a device with a screen size of 4.7 inches or larger. Anything smaller is going to make the process much more difficult, if not impossible. If you don't have a device with a screen size of 4.7 inches or larger, you can use a smaller mobile device with the help of a wireless keyboard/mouse and a virtual keyboard/mouse like VNC or SSH. You can also try a 3G-only model. All these methods require a wired connection to the device.

Requirements. Android 4.4 KitKat or newer At least Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or older Root access on your device. Install OpenVPN from Google Play Store. Download OpenVPN. The best way to install OpenVPN is to download the app from the Google Play Store.
